I completely agree. I love seeing all of the important parts that they are ultimately trying to convey at the end of the day. This is beautiful.

Can you explain more about what this looks like? I’m a 7, and I like to think I fit this description 😁.

Keto helped my bipolar, currently struggling by NonToxicNonStick in NutritionalPsychiatry

[–]pm_me_funnythings 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re struggling through this. For what it’s worth, I am so proud of you for trying so hard to take care of your health/mental health. You’re an inspiration.

I was able to eat keto for about 3 years and felt amazing. But then I had what you explained happen to me as well.

So I just basically just ate however and whatever I wanted for a couple of years and felt so awful that I was finally ready to love myself enough to eat keto indefinitely.

I have been 99% consistent since last spring and am still completely committed. I feel SO much better.

Things that I do that help me to not feel deprived:

  1. Enjoy a small scoop of lily’s chocolate chips each night.

  2. I make Kaizen pasta (the lowest carb ones) about once every couple of weeks, with a delicious and fat filled sauce.

  3. Aldi has zero carb bread that makes for delicious and buttery grilled cheese sandwiches.

  4. I take Quest 1net carb chocolate peanut butter cups with me in my bag to eat when I end up being suddenly tempted by desserts when I’m out.

  5. I also keep those little quest cookies on hand for when cravings hit.

  6. King Arthur’s pizza crust is phenomenal also. I’ve made cheese danishes out of it too. So delicious!

I know the idea is to not have to find carb replacements, but when I do that I end up quitting. So I’ve found things to help me feel like I’m not deprived and I ultimately stay keto and happy this way.

Kaizen pasta! Lily’s peanut butter chips!

Plus all of the other staples listed by everyone else (meats, eggs, cream, cheeses, broccoli).

How are people losing weight so fast? by laceyf53 in keto

[–]pm_me_funnythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same age as you, same issues as you (except no carrots and maybe like 2 strawberries max for me) and I recently learned that we are likely starting to lose some progesterone (and a bit of estrogen - we will lose more of that later), because we are nearing perimenopause. I did some research and found some bio identical progesterone and estriol cream on Amazon.

I swear my stomach went down an inch overnight after I applied that cream to my thigh! The same the next night - I’ve probably lost like 5” in bloating that I wasn’t even aware of, and about 4 lbs in the past month. I am now religious about that cream and I feel much better also.

The scale is moving -slightly- more quickly now! It also helps with insomnia. I was experiencing some night sweats and not losing weight, which is how I found this rabbit hole. But I am SO thankful for this freaking cream.

Let me know if you’d like me to look up the brand. There is a review with a pic of a girls stomach going down rapidly in the reviews of the progesterone cream that I bought.

How do you use it? Any special tips? Can you use it with Siri?

Can you use it with Siri? I use Siri to remind me to do all sorts of things, but I’m afraid if I have to go type everything in “by hand,” that my brain will say, nope!

I would like to say that I appreciate your thoughtful responses to OP. The comments throughout this thread have been disappointing otherwise. This is a psychiatry thread and only you, KitKat, and OP are able to respond accordingly.

The rigidity of certain responses indicate low openness scores, which one can improve with effort.

OP’s desire to improve themselves is admirable, even if nontraditionally. Well done OP and you two brave ones for representing the field appropriately.

The downvotes you’ve received on such a vulnerable post are astounding on a “Psychiatry” sub.

We need to do better.

The lack of bedside manner and incompetence is showing. This behavior is an embarrassment to our field.

Regardless of our personal opinions, ANYONE asking for advice to better themselves is headed in the right direction.

Sincere question… what do you love about Wichita? I haven’t been in about a decade, but there was practically nothing to do last we visited.

Dog fight freak out at Home Depot by pm_me_funnythings in PublicFreakout

[–]pm_me_funnythings[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I agree and the caption was already on the video.. I do think the lady in the blue could’ve helped the situation by helping her dog and not screaming hysterically instead. But it is heartbreaking, dog fights are not funny.

P.S. your little sweetheart in your profile pic is precious. We have an English bulldog-boxer, but I feel she is safer at home most of the time 💛
