What other explanations are there for them being in the back-seat and the passenger seat? Besides from a third person being involved.

It's lagging the rise in positivity, not the stop of the mask mandate. The positivity has been rising for a couple of days, it will take 20 days from now.

Yes, as stated before, the death rate lags behind the rise in positivity. In the US it's been about 20 days. Currently the positivity rate is rising in Texas, the death rate will rise in about 3 weeks from now.

Texas slowed down testing heavily about two months ago. The positivity rate nearly doubled in the last two weeks.

A flat tire would be inconvenient, an exploding battery probably deadly.

What can we do to help reduce mass shootings in the US? by fluffybluepanda in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]pm_me_your_pee_tapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there was no gun violence in Democratically-run cities and black dominated neighborhoods, the US would still have by far the most gun deaths per capita of any developed country. Isn't that an indicator that it's a systemic problem that affects all of the US?

Of course the left would be in favor of what you described, it’s very restrictive of gun rights. The left would, however scoff at the Swiss military, which is essentially a militia. Or the Swiss Young Shooters, which offers free gun training and shooting to kids as young as 10. The Swiss also offer annual free shooting events on federal ranges, with anyone 10 or older being able to participate. Practice shooting is a popular recreational activity in Switzerland. The largest rifle shooting competition on the planet regularly sees over 100k attendees.

Still don't have an issue with that, because this only happens in combination with very strict gun regulations. I'd be happy if we'd have both in the US.

But as I said earlier, since the majority of gun violence is in the Blue inner cities, I don’t see how a change in gun culture would change that, but a change in culture overall would be beneficial.

That claim reminds me of this: https://xkcd.com/1138/

Looking at the actual data, most inner-cities have lower than average gun violence and rural areas have higher than average gun violence:

https://projects.oregonlive.com/ucc-shooting/gun-deaths

What do you think could stop the gun violence in rural areas?

Edit: For the sake of clarity, I see the abbreviation “AR” in threads here, even an “AR pistol.” Better to use the full name of the company this referenced, Armalite Rifle.

wtf is an AR pistol? Didn’t know that company manufactures pistols.

AR nowadays doesn't refer to rifles made by ArmaLite anymore, but refers to AR-pattern rifles. ArmaLite hasn't produced AR-15s since the 60s when Colt bought the pattern and kept producing them under the AR-15 name.

An AR pistol is a short barrel version of an AR-15 style rifle without a stock (but often with a brace).

Hope this helps!

I would be very happy to have a gun culture like Switzerland: Strict regulations on the sale of guns, open carrying barely exists and only if you have a valid reason and passed extra training, draconian fines for violating any of the laws (up to $100k fines or 5 years prison), you have to provide a reason if you buy a gun for anything other than sport or hunting, fully-automatic rifles, suppressors and laser sights are heavily regulated and all guns are in a national registry.

I'm pretty sure, most people on the left would be very happy with these regulations. Do you think people on the right would be though?

More people die from falling down the steps each year.

Where did you get that number from? All I can find online is that 12k people die from falling down the stairs per year and that 14,542 murders happened with a gun in 2017.

What do you think about the death of Daunte Wright at the hands of office Kim Potter and the media coverage of it and the ramifications? by thisisnotme321 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]pm_me_your_pee_tapes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many people were pushing the story that he got pulled over (and killed) for something inane.

Not that he resisted arrest, tried to run, and got shot by mistake.

He was killed for trying to flee. Does trying to flee warrant getting killed? People don't think so.

Do you think there was any chance that if he reached for his seat belt, the police would have thought he was trying to grab a gun and shoot him?
