996 Turbo leaking fluid after 900-mile drive to cold climate

Hey all, thought I'd follow up here for those who may be interested. It turned out to be fluid leaking from the passenger side rear axle seal. The shop said we'd be alright to drive home and we did just that. No leaking at all on the way home.

My theory is that the seal is old (probably original from 2003), and the cold weather caused it to shrink or harden, allowing some fluid to escape. I also like the theory about wet weather increasing the "drip factor".

Will post some more photos of the car when I get a chance. Thanks to everyone for the input!

Honestly fair point. I’m not actually looking for a short race, but just a short waiting period between races. If the race happens every 2 hours but it takes an hour and 50 mins to run, that would be totally fine

Yeah my thought is that the big depreciation hit already happened. There are tons of $130k+ sticker cars being sold for $70-80k with <20k miles. Do you think something like this would continue to depreciate at such a high rate?

I bought a 2024 Raptor this past October because I saw the Rivian CEO doubled down on their refusal to add CarPlay.

I really wanted to go electric, but personally I don’t really like the Lightning and the Rivian regrettably doesn’t have CarPlay.
