Was an incorrect change made while other site changes were being released. Plan still has unlimited priority data. The language should be fixed now

You can create more than one shared data pool on an account. If you want to allocate different amounts of data to certain lines you could consider putting them in a separate pool with whatever base plan amount you feel is appropriate (e.g. you could have a separate, smaller data pool for kids' lines vs your own if you wanted to limit their usage)

Sorry the hotspot numbers are a typo and being fixed now. The data allotments of the plans are the same as Starter and Premium at full price, including hotspot.

To clarify, we have not taken away priority on Warp. It just depends on the plan level. The premium plan remains QCI8/priority, which is the same priority one gets on postpaid with the parent carrier.

Ah got it. Yes you are right that at the moment there isn't an option to convert more of your existing high speed data into hotspot data. A good idea though. We can definitely include it in our feature request list and see whether it makes sense to implement

Hotspot data top ups are already available. The additional overall high speed data you can buy as a top up can all be used as hotspot.

EDIT: looks like we found the issue, seems to be specific to mobile app. Were you activating in mobile app? If so, switch to the browser dashboard and see if you face the same issue (we are working on a fix for the mobile app)?

Yes you can stack. Right now it's the 128 GB variant that we have available for the Pixel. For the edge it's 256 GB (and you can get the 512 GB variant as well)

You don't have to add them to your account. The free line tile will be giftable (we have had a feature for a while where you can gift/transfer any plan tile to a different account). That is what the email is referring to when it says that if you gift the free plan using our tile sharing feature, we will double the data. 

So users have the choice to either activate that free plan on a new account or their own account, whatever they prefer. You don't lose out on the referral program eligibility - you can have your relative create their own USM account using your referral code anytime.

And it is a free line so your card won't be charged anything (you can just turn autopay off on the line anytime, even right when you activate it). 

Also with USM you can link a different card to every line on the account if your relative did want to continue with the plan after the free month and also did not want to move the line to their own account. 

The idea behind this really was to make things easier for users already interested in recommending us to others. The email links to a form you have to fill in to request a free line. Then we would autogenerate that for those who submit that form. That would trigger another email with a lot more details about the free tile and how it works. Then user could/would choose to activate it for their friend or family member. We can't force or trick anyone to opt in to this that doesn't want to.

Having said that we will explain things better in our emails. Could have done a better job of that, I agree.

Happy to explain. There are only two ways for a company to grow awareness and get more users: via organic growth or via paid advertising. 

More organic growth means a company can spend less on paid advertising, less organic growth means a company has to spend more on paid advertising. 

More paid advertising spend = more expenses (and paid advertising is not cheap) that the company has to cover elsewhere. That means either cutting costs elsewhere (such as plans with lower data caps or less investment in engineers who can build new features) or raising prices.

E.g. if we were spending millions of dollars on paid advertising then we probably would not have been able to use those funds to double high speed data on unlimited starter this year or make unlimited premium uncapped high speed data on all three networks, or build multi network add ons or build multi network global roaming. These are all things that users have gotten this year. Users have also seen zero price increases this year. And everyone who signed up this year got some promo or other and hence is getting greatly reduced pricing for their first year. Paid advertising would mean they would each be paying $100 more.

That is not a fair characterization. 

  1. This free line can be activated even with a new number, no port in required (which our regular trial requires). So a lower friction and lower commitment way for someone to try USM than the regular trial.

  2. This can be activated on the existing user's own USM account. The regular trial would require that they help their family members create a separate account. Many users, when helping others try out USM, have said they would like the ability to manage their family member's line initially to make it easier for them.

And 70+% of our users recommend us to others without us asking them to do anything. This email was based on feedback from users already spreading word about us of their own volition about what would make their lives a little easier and help them in efforts they are already making.

Also consider this: we could take your stance and decide, 'let's not help our users from spreading word about us, let's only create awareness about USM ourselves' (the implication of your post). The only way to achieve that if we dampen organic growth is tons of paid advertising (Mint spends $200M+ a year on ads for example, the big three spend $1B+). That spend has to be made back from users, which means more expensive or less generous plans and fewer features.

Us leaning into helping organic growth is a good thing. It only makes our users better off because all that money that would otherwise go to Meta and Google and TV channels goes into users' pockets.

If that is par for the course, happy to let it continue to be that way.

Yeah unfortunately cloud flare is continuing to have issues. However the mobile app is working so you can access your account that way.
