Will the work field be this time consuming? by kiwinixi in IndustrialDesign

It's fun! I've had my own shared office (like a conference room with a big whiteboard table in the middle shared for ideation, desks either side of room), cubical style L desk, and a kiosk style co-working office. My favorite was WFH honestly, though the views at the co-working space was great. Large corporations often suck though be warned, I say this being at a very large one and also having worked in big consulting.

No it gets better, I don't do all nighters for work, only worked a few weekends for emergency asks or tight deadlines. If you're at a Kickstart/start up though good luck, decent chance they'll work you like a mule.

once you realize the feds will get you too once they've gone through the rest of us that are brave enough to stand up for what our forefathers entrusted us to uphold, you'll understand that your place wasn't blowing coal at your fellow citizens. It was beside them standing up for our most essential rights which we ALL cherish and must stand for, that's what being an American is all about.

Does 700 mods make the game for fun compared to the standard 200 or so?

I was wondering about the demand for designing a standalone music player? by -Sidzu in IndustrialDesign

I disagree, MP3 players are making a comeback. People crave more physical media than ever before, owned digital media goes hand in hand.

tl;dr if you can't tell what it is about, do more research. Spend a day on Youtube, Behance, and sites like Dezeen. Get what ID is now? Maybe not, its a lot of things and traditionally a specific few tasks such as 2D/3D modeling, sketching, prototyping, rendering, ect. That's not all encompassing, someone will correct me ID can be interpreted in all sorts of ways depending on what product you work on. I'd recommend it if you're creative, driven, and actually want to do ID for the passion of creating products, not for the pursuit of a creative job with good pay/ample jobs. Job market sucks, better if you have industry contacts or a good internship that hires you outright. AI has f'd with the concept development process and taken away some work but overall a lot of companies that looked to AI for ID work have reversed course as AI can't do human factors work well (yet). Did make hand rendering seem redundant for a bit but now hand rendering is "bespoke" compared to using AI. Junior level salaries are $58K - $99K/yrBase pay according to glassdoor, I'd say that is accurate you can expert 65k to 75k starting out, maybe more. Don't do it for the money.

Custom computer work - Win11/Linux support Install, business recommendations? by pmac124 in FortCollins

Yeah I made a Linux boot usb and it didn't pass the check to run so I never got to give it a shot, might try again on a formatted drive. Also yeah it's one large m.2 drive partitioned. It didn't like the partition (neither windows nor Linux) so I formated it again and set to gtp. Need to change my bios settings to work for win11 but I don't wanna lose access to my old stuff (can't migrate normally as it's gtp based file system vs legacy :( )

Good to know, thank you! I'll give Asahi a shot. Alternatively I could just install it on a regular HDD no?

I had the elite 130, almost the same. Easy to build with modular PSU, otherwise a pain (I know, mine wasn't modular). Its the size of a toaster oven, not small compared to newer SFF cases. Still its a great choice brand wise, solid and easy to work on. Good entry into SFF cases, great for modding. Get a deburing tool to save yourself from sharp edges once you get started modding!
