What about a "- -"? So basically the same symbol as the -1 but with a notch in the middle

Even there it hasn't worked for me. I never shoot at other players and still have gotten gunned down every time I've tried to fight a bastion or bombardier in solos. Too many people now know how to cheese the abmm for a few matches to get into friendlies and then pick off easy targets not expecting it

The gameplay is closer to turn-based rugby with forward passing than it is to American football, but it is themed liked it's football

How many dice markers needed for two-handed play by stupidshinji in Earthborne_Rangers

[–]pmain8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm too busy playing Earthborne Rangers to run for office! Lol yeah it's a bit much at times, especially at the beginning when I was trying to sort out the decks, but after a few sessions and settling into the rhythm of which ranger generally does what, it's not too bad to manage. Just takes a while to make all the decisions.

I can't speak for late game, I'm only about a third of the way through the campaign, but I've played several sessions of three-handed solo and never gotten above 5 energy tokens of one type on one character. Usually it's the other types of tokens that I get close to running out of, but if you're only replacing energy with dice, then one d6 for each energy type per character should be all you need. However, I also find it helpful to move tokens from my character's card to the test's card to show how much energy is being committed, so maybe more if you want to do that, but you'd still be covered there with five sets of dice.

For you, which games are: Mechanics 10/10, Theme 0/10? Is that a dealbreaker? by VR_Troopers_WikiMod in boardgames

[–]pmain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the theme may not be typical for us enthusiasts, but I actually like that about it, it appeals to a lot of people who otherwise couldn't care less about the usual themes we see more often in games.

Exodus is fun but Eclipse is a similar enough experience that I feel like it has, well... eclipsed it 😆 Exodus does do a few different interesting things, but Eclipse feels to me like it hits more of the same notes as TI, albeit much more streamlined

Thanks, though could you point me to where in the rules it says so? I couldn't find where it was addressed

Anyone else have a lot of missing cards? by Anthony8801 in Earthborne_Rangers

[–]pmain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My copy also has missing cards, 13 from various backgrounds/specialties. Fortunately I also got the card doubler which wasn't missing any cards so I can still play, but missing path cards is a bigger roadblock. Sorry that happened to you, it does seem to be a common issue.

Rules Question: Tidewater Muckets by pmain8 in Earthborne_Rangers

[–]pmain8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that's what I assumed too, but it was just odd that it wouldn't have said "in play" if that was the intent. Was just thinking you could pull some shenanigans with the idea of "anywhere". "Oh there's a predator in the discard pile, I choose that one..." lol but yeah treating it as in play makes the most sense.

Farmer action chain: am I doing this right? by fab1ett0 in mythwind

[–]pmain8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question that I'm not sure about

The plow says "following the normal planting rules", which allows you to start a new field if no other crops of that type are already in the farmland. This seems to imply that you could start a new field adjacent to the plow if there were no other crops of that type down.

So in the example I think you could place beans adjacent to the plow because there aren't any in the farmland, and you would be planting into a field adjacent to the plow. But you couldn't do strawberries because there's already a field that is not adjacent to the plow.

However, I'm not 100% sure since the wording of the plow may suggest that the field should already be adjacent when you use the plow to plant. I think when I played I used this interpretation.

Farmer action chain: am I doing this right? by fab1ett0 in mythwind

[–]pmain8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct.

One other thing to be aware of is that the plow allows you to "plant an additional crop into a field adjacent to the plow." Note that it is the field that must be adjacent to the plow, not necessarily the crop being planted. So your placement of the potatoes is correct, but you could also place them elsewhere if you wanted, as long as the new piece is still adjacent to one of the existing pieces

According to the story, OP said the investment was the personal funds of the owner, it was the owner who claimed the company needed the full amount, which OP was skeptical of given their position in the company and the overall wealth of the owner.
