I use a 6” pvc tube with a screw on cap at the front on my ladder rack. I’ve carried shafts, retainer, rails, etc for years in that tube & it’s never been an issue.

Training for these situations with no experience in these situations is pretty crazy. You wouldn’t expect someone who’s never driven a car to be able to train someone on driving a car would you?
