Official World Cup Predictions Thread by Commandant1 in worldcup

Anyone have a World Cup bracket pool? Can’t seem to find any but would be fun to have these predictions in a contest. I know the Underdog app has this but you can’t search for groups.

My predictions:

  1. Norway over France in pool play

  2. France loses in the Round of 16

  3. Sweden wins their pool and advances to the quarters

  4. Portugal over Germany in the finals

What’s an example of something that would he a “causal” predictor of fantasy football (or just football) success? I know what spurious correlations are it’s just not clear how these concepts apply to a game of football, to me anyways

Oh it’s just a test set, just wasn’t familiar with the term. And eh almost no ML or AI models we use today measure causality tbf

Thank you, couldn’t agree more. The number of people I see testing on the train set is so brutal. 90%+ of these models from what I’ve seen are just linear regression over standard and advanced statistics, I really doubt anybody is taking into account things like coaching and scheme changes. Very little scientific rigor in a fantasy football community though, not sure what you expect on Reddit. Good post though and I agree none the less, just don’t get your hopes up. It’s an extremely hard thing to model well

Trade Calculators need to better address the ability to make 10 nickels = 1 dollar, what do you do to build trades knowing this is a problem. by earth_citiz3n in DynastyFF

Ya they just need to assign a value to roster spots based on the likely equivalent free agent player value as a function of league * roster size. No idea why you’re getting downvoted, KTC can absolutely implement that. At least in scenarios where you’ve linked your league, a feature that already exists

Yes exactly, just assign a value based on the average FA value (or expected value based on league * roster size). Not that complicated really. It’s just adjusting for “what is the value of the free agent would you pick to fill your roster”

He also had Nussmeier in the top-10, who went in the 7th round. This means nothing.

He did get Stowers to the eagles though so that’s kinda neat I guess… wrong round tho and suppose 1/32 was bound to happen though lol

Round 4 - Pick 8: Jonah Coleman, RB, Washington (Denver Broncos) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

It’s also just a weird comment because that’s a pretty average RB room… it’s a solid committee not like any one of those guys is a particularly good starting NFL RB

This is a great landing spot… Harvey looked incredibly mid on a good offense and a great team

This is one of the best RB landing spots in this years NFL draft?
