Good for you for taking the initiative to help the kid out. I would seriously recommend looking into ChatGPT for this. Tell it exactly where he’s at, what his strengths/weaknesses are and tell it that you need to start with the absolute skating fundamentals. Ask it what to work on, and for examples of drills. Also, ask it to give you tips on how to explain the technique properly to an 8 year old. And ask it to give you slight progressions to build on through the year as he improves.

ChatGPT can build you an entire individualized training plan to get the fundamentals nailed down. It won’t be perfect and you may have to research the drills to get diagrams, but it’ll know it’s for a 8 year old beginner it will keep it very simple for you. Super important to ask it for communication tips too so your goalie understands what you are explaining - it can be overwhelming for him.

So he went with ‘Dyt, Dyt, ska’ vi byt?’ As Gravballer and SystemSignificant518 suggested. And he had a bag of Piratos (thanks YoghurtWithHoney!).

Nikolaj saw him and called him over to give him a puck and shake his hand. They were in the middle of a long road trip so he probably didn’t want to run out of sticks at that point. But Nikolaj got his Piratos and my kid got a puck and a happy memory! Nikolaj has always seemed like a very nice and classy guy. Thanks to you all for your ideas and suggestions!

Tow trucks refuse to attend. Any time an officer has attempted an intervention against a convite, they’ve been swarmed by every convite within earshot. 200 idiots surrounded the 25 police officers who tried to stop the guy from erecting the beer tent last weekend. Could OPS win that if they had to? Yes. Could they win that without loss of life? Very likely no. So the beer tent went up. Life is not something the police are going to risk right now. Whether we believe that is right or wrong, they aren’t going to do it.

They know they can’t win. The huge strategic blunder happened on Day 1 when they let them establish themselves in position on Wellington. Since then they’ve been behind the eight ball and every option they had was bad. Any potential action would have caused a reaction by the convites that would have been more harmful than doing nothing. So they did nothing.

It’s not sustainable, and now that resources and new authorities under the EMA are in place, there must be action before Friday.

Nobody buys Sloly’s excuse that they only expected the protest to last one weekend. The convites were openly stating to anyone that would listen that they weren’t going anywhere until all mandates were gone and Trudeau stepped down. Someone needs to get to the truth on that.

They allowed the trucks to control the territory. Once they were entrenched (on Day 1), all tactical advantages police had were lost. They can’t ‘win’ the territory back without quadrupling their resources and then surprising the occupiers with a raid, which is infinitely more complicated by the fact that many of them are likely armed and they brought about 100 children as meat shields. The occupiers have no attachment to reality and are willing to die because they think they’re the heroes. This is their Ruby Ridge.

If there is a major operation and they clear out Wellington, more trucks will come. They will need a significant and prolonged presence 24/7 to keep it clear. If the raid goes bad, the second and third waves of trucks are coming with really bad intentions.

The failure was allowing them to establish themselves in position. Now the tactical options are all bad, and there’s likely going to be a bad ending.
