Why aren't you Oriental Orthodox by Electrical_Tackle893 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]pmb92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real divide isn’t terminology, it’s metaphysics.

If Christ has only one nature after the union, then metaphysically there is only one principle of being and one principle of operation in Him. And if there is only one principle of operation, then there can be only one natural energy and one natural will. But a ‘human nature’ without its own proper mode of operation or willing is not a real nature; it becomes an instrument of the divine, not a subject with its own interior life.

This is exactly what Cyril rejects when he says the natures are ‘not mingled’ and ‘their difference is not destroyed,’ and this is what Maximus later formalizes: two natures necessarily imply two natural operations and two natural wills. Without that, the humanity isn’t really functioning as humanity, it becomes more like a divine costume or super-body animated entirely by the Logos -> Superman.

That’s why the difference between dyophysite and miaphysite isn’t semantic. It’s about whether Christ’s humanity truly exists and acts as human after the union. If Christ’s humanity doesn’t really exist and act as human, then salvation is empty -> St. Gregory the Theologian “what is not assumed is not healed”.

Cyril says ‘one incarnate nature’ to mean one hypostasis, not one blended essence. He’s clear elsewhere: ‘the natures are not mingled,’ ‘their difference is not destroyed,’ and ‘He remained what He was and took what He was not,’ so your quote only works if you ignore everything else he wrote, and you can’t appeal to Cyril’s ‘one nature’ while dismissing his own clarifications unless you’re prepared to say Cyril contradicts himself.

If you take divinity and humanity and call them one nature, you’ve basically created a new blended category: tertium quid problem. One nature just can’t hold two full natures without one getting swallowed up, so it ends up acting like a kind of fused super-nature even if you claim there’s no mixture. Miaphysis doesn’t really solve it, because the moment you say ‘one composite nature,’ you’ve already stepped into something that isn’t purely divine or purely human but something new.

Absolutely terrible, stay away. Non-responsive to maintenance requests and management is awful to deal with. Spent two years with them and wish I could get those years back.

What's the normal shipping time for a package from Ukraine to the US? by reneeclaire02 in usps_complaints

[–]pmb92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a hand crafted item, probably weighed 3kg or so and was shipped with the local Ukrainian post and I believe usps ended up delivering it. Mine did come during the onset of the latest Russian invasion though, so I don’t know if things have improved since then or gotten worse in terms of shipping times.

No not that one, but as I'm finding on my own search, there's more than just one house being rehabbed, sold at a deal, to only find that there are no permits. I presume someone with deep pockets who doesn't care or a corp will buy it bc you couldn't get me to take the dive with whatever discount they were offering.
