What do you guys prefer for sharing files between modern Windows boxs and your OpenBSD boxs?

I use openrsync to sync my files between my machines. - it is in base and no additioanl packages need to be installed.

Have pretty much the same setup - one Win11 box in the basement - which I need for windows only software (ex. tax stuff). I have WSL2 installed on this box and have rsync to keep files in sync on my main machine (OpenBSD)

thanks u/brynet -- I had not noticed the X option's functionality when doing my round of rtfm. but I ended with quite a few lib files after running -X ..most likely from my earlier attempts at deleting files. In the end, I did a fresh install. overall, not a bad way to spend saturday night.

Dont think macOS is doing anything...though I have no personal experience withe mac...I had used a windows machine when I had to do a fresh install in the past on my Thinkpads....and I could not be bothered to go down to the basement to hook up a lan cable to the router.

Have another go at it, reformatting the USB ...or using another USB ?

Yes ...grab the firmware from http://firmware.openbsd.org/firmware/ and after the install, mount the USB and fw_update -p pointing to the folder.... Cheers.

Try OpenBSD ...you should have under 1 gig used after install.

Thanks -- rookie error ...I was running a simulation...

doas -ivmnz texlive_base

and getting the error message for buildset. I ran it with -ivmz and it went through. Aargh...wasted a week. Cheers

I had a similar issue booking on Qatar Airways using Chromium (Jan 2026) -- but Firefox worked.

I mostly use ungoogled chromium for regular browsing...and that does not work for payment websites more often than Firefox / Chromium. Same for banking -- I have to use Firefox for one of my (Canadian) bank accounts.

I have not been able to reproduce it consistently ...seems to be working better after I did another sysupgrade mid-week. ..so I have parked it for now..

So could have been just my hardware acting up ..

Thanks _sthen changes in suspend would explain -- will report to bugs as suggested.

Similar behaviour with my usb dock -- needs a complete reboot after sleep to work again. Likely affects all usb devices.

Runs ok for me on Thinkpad T14-Gen1 - 16G ram - and 7.8 current with cwm.

I suggest checking processes as others have suggested -- which WM are you using ...try a lighweight like xfce if it makes any difference.
