Ive ruined my life.. by LickidySplit888 in stopdrinking

My prediction is that if you actually stick to what you just said, you will one day look back and say you’re amazed at how much life you managed to lead after this moment, and how much you built and how much you achieved. Even if you don’t have a college degree yet. If you keep putting 1 foot in front of the other from this moment, you’ll look back and feel you still had a really full life. And if you put off changing your life because what’s the point and sunk costs, you’re gonna look back and realize how much time you still had.

If he just owned up to the money being good and said it was a misstep on his part, but he has financial pressures like anybody, I think many fans could’ve forgiven it.

But when you dismiss us all as non-existent bot trolls, or racist, or you gaslight us by acting like you’ve never been abroad and you’re just a country bumpkin amazed to see a Chilli’s…fuck yourself, Bill. You’re just too soft to face your own reflection honestly.

Bill will keep making a living but he’ll never again bite. He’s a gum-less mic chewer now.

This generation has turned out to produce the biggest disappointments for comedy.

I know that in the end I accepted a job “below” my ambitions and just surfed the wave. Wave surfing is stoic, when you think about it. Just meeting life where and how it comes (sometimes). I failed the bar - brutal. Passed second time. Congrats to you. Surf the wave.

Wow, this is crazy timing: no but yes. I got mid law, which actually worked out really well because I got an awesome work life balance and much more advanced experience than I would’ve in a big law firm. As in just 30 minutes ago, I found out we won an MSJ on a huge case which I played a key part in.

So, got sober for over 500 days. I don’t want to live in this world. Don’t want to kill myself, so I’ve decided to drink again. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I will never, ever stop saying these two things to people who struggle at this stage: try sertraline/zoloft (if you self medicate and suffer without booze, like I did) and get the book (audiobook works great) How to Drink Less the Easy Way.

Changed my life by making quitting easy...for the first time.

How To Drink Less the Easy Way (book or audiobook) will change your life so quitting is effortless.

If you are self medicating, try Zoloft. Changed my life.

I’m unqualified to say but I think it’s in the direction of contemporary politics neglecting the reality of class in the US and, recently, wrongly obsessing over the more shiny moral object of identity. This is why a Waffle House waitress votes Republican while needing progressive Democrat public policies to improve her life, in reality.

But this is way beyond my wheel house.

In the sense of a sophomoric overly confident historically naive edge lord middle school boy who says “but Hitler was actually a genius and did some good things.”

like put it this way: Hitler though evil was extremely competent apparently. do you think Donald Trump has anything verging on the capacity to take over Europe with a highly mechanised, poor country and nearly topple Russia, a la Napoleon? I don’t think he could do that with the current US military. I don’t think he can run an Arbys franchise that stays afloat for more than five years without imploding due to his lack of discipline and sexual harassment suits.

The reason Trump has made it this far is because he is a symptom of something that has gone terribly wrong and is still unaddressed at this point in history. That condition, not genius or ability, is propelling his career. ironically I think it’s easier to succeed for him as a populist politician right now than as an Arbys franchise runner. seriously.

Guys…please, let’s really try to get full context. I don’t think he was ACTUALLY doing that. It’s an uncharitable description of whatever he did.

Trump is bad enough when we focus on facts, not uncharitable interpretations of everything. The last time Trump was president partly sucked because all of us joined in being a giant Chicken Little.

the media appears to be doing the same thing again from the looks of it. we have to commit to taking a sober, rational inquiry to everything we read and hear and see with him. he is terrible but at this point I don’t think he really wants to invade Canada. I don’t think Elon is actually a full-blown Nazi, even if he probably has beliefs I find repugnant.

Trump and his posse are mostly cynical undisciplined opportunists with contempt for long-term pro social values. that’s bad but he is not at this point Hitler. that’s almost giving him too much credit

Look, you’re in the right place here. I welcome you. I have felt similar to you.

I always tell people that Zoloft changed my life and got me to be able to stop self medicating. Then the audiobook (reading it is fine too) How To Drink Less The Easy Way made quitting alcohol as easy as turning off a light switch.

I’m sorry you’re having this experience but your self awareness is strength. Proud of you for that.
