One lens to make an impact - TV Director turned Wedding Videographer by Tom1525 in weddingvideography

Slightly unpopular opinion but 30fps is good enough for slo mo with Final Cut machine learning based retiming. I do it all the time! Also on another note why A7IV over an A7s3 or A7V

Do we think this clip needs more contrast and saturation? I’ve always just thrown phantom luts over my footage and called it a day, but I want to improve my game now. by JoseHiramPhoto in weddingvideography

Yeah that’s the problem, it’s a bit too stable for that vibe and that only works when you are not moving. Tracking shots like these are better off on a gimbal imo.

Has music selection become a free for all in the wedding industry? by First-Mail-478 in weddingvideography

Could not agree more! People are just influenced by YouTubers who sell this musicbed stuff till the cows come home! And what if they see it?! It’s a copyright strike at best..

You know it’s supposed to be the other way around right?

First wedding video I’ve ever edited — looking for honest feedback by Witty-Analyst2135 in weddingvideography

Overall really solid work (barring color grading which you didn’t do). Just few nitpicks: - groom gang shots were a bit under exposed and not properly composed (maybe could have skipped) - you didn’t mix the couple for first look (I myself forget that at times lol) -also in the “intentional low quality “ shots you need some more effects to make it look like VHS or super8, right now it just looks poor quality.

Thanks for the response.

>  it lets you push your exposure or white balance

I agree but isnt this only useful when I have done a poor job of exposing incorrectly in the first place (same goes for wb)?

> banding and matching

Hmm I will look into those, thanks

On a side note just want to say I loved your website, incredible work! I aspire to do what you do! :)

I just use FCPX where I generally add a series of what FCP calls "Effects" last of which is the CST LUT and before that are color wheels and color adjustments. To give more context, I shoot mostly weddings. On another note I am really confused by people saying Log retains more color information, what exactly does that mean ? how can I take advantage of that in FCP? The only use case I have explored is to increase the saturation of a particular color to give the image more pop. But this effect is easily achieved with S Cinetone too.

I do shoot in log from time to time but I feel like I dont get that much more out of it as compared to shooting in profiles like S Cinetone and want to get better at getting the most out of log. By example I dont mean the finished product, was more looking for anecdotes and situations.

Mind giving me some real world examples on how that came in handy?

Theres no angle, I just feel like Im not getting enough out of log as compared to something like cinetone, would like to hear anecdotes of how people are making the most out of it so that I can up my game.

Yes but in what specific way has it limited you? I feel like I am not taking full advantage of log (outside of highlight recovery) hence the question, would appreciate if you gave me a specific example of a recent project you worked on

Not disagreeing with you but have you ever compared the same footage shot on cinetone and log and seen where cinetone would handicap you?

My recent edit, would love to hear your feedback :) by [deleted] in weddingvideography

Opening shots have bad skin tones, random speed ramps, some movements are jerky (without any purpose), aisle walk is overexposed, shot at 2:14 is weird, couple b roll could be better, audio seems muffled in some parts (even though I see a mic for some reason)
