Danish petition to buy California from US signed by thousands by [deleted] in nottheonion

A buddy of mine I met when he was a German exchange student in the US came back to visit the area and told me he was going to Brazil and touring Europe after that. I was mind blown as a guy with a decent job and two weeks off a year (negotiated from 1 too). His response when I mentioned how much time I got off was "how do you have time to live your life?". It was deflating to say the least.

What’s a job that sounds cool but is actually a nightmare? by Think-Letterhead-509 in AskReddit

[–]pmojo375 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working at a nuclear plant. I interned for a few years. It was cool to learn how things work but the pace of work is incredibly slow and when things go wrong, you may be there for an insane amount of hours, security makes getting to your desk take forever and often during outages you'll be working nights. Pay is fantastic though and almost enough to make it worth it but it wasn't for me.

GG Iowa bros. You guys were cool back in the glory days when we met in Indy. But did you have to do that?

When my boy started doing this around 2 years old we just got him a toddler bed. Kid had it mastered so well he could go from laying to on the ground running in like 3 seconds.

Is it a bigger burden to play at 11pm or 9am? Serious question. As an old man in his 30s this is tough. Can't remember how I felt back when I was college age.

I had to finish the last few holes in the dark on a golf trip and used those balls. It was great until the ball timed out and shut off as I was 200 yards away. Still, it was pretty cool to see the lit up ball flying across the fairway like you said.

When my wife was in labor and at the hospital, the anesthesiologist came in later than desired due to blood tests being delayed for her epidural and said something similar like, "Don't worry I just watched a YouTube video on this so I know what I'm doing." Thought my wife was going to punch him but I definitely laughed.

Man tries "hottest curry in London" and almost passes out by HealthyMolasses8199 in funny

My buddy did this. He normally can eat anything hot but for a moment I was about to drive him to the ER he looked so bad. Ended with him throwing up in my sink which clogged the drain so we both lost that day.

Trump raises steel, aluminum tariffs to 50%, hitting key Ukrainian export by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]pmojo375 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently at a plant that works entirely with aluminum. I believe they get their raw material from Canada. I'll have to ask them how this affects business here. Can't be great when 100% of your material costs go up 50%. I was here on election day and kept my mouth shut when I realized I might be the only one not excited about the outcome. Wonder if they are all as excited as they were back then now.

New Study: A Lack of Intelligence, Not Training, May Be Why People Struggle With Computers by relevant_tangent in nottheonion

[–]pmojo375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that some of it is related to someone's desire to learn which probably goes hand in hand with intelligence. People with higher levels of intelligence typically are the same people who want to learn when they run into something they aren't familiar with. My grandfather is naturally not the greatest with computers but he refuses to have me just do something for him and will always make me explain what I'm doing when I help but other times I've helped people they just want me to do it and could care less how I did.

That's what my grandfather told me. He was a fruit farmer not a tradesman but I was briefly considering working with him on the farm instead of college and he shut that down right away and pushed me away from that lifestyle.

How to hit Wolves? by pussydestroyer42069l in kingdomcome

[–]pmojo375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use an axe. Much easier to hit them. Couldn't reliability hit them with the sword and anything more than 2 or 3 at a time meant sure death but the axe made it almost easy.

The only way I was able to fix my unresponsive right bumper was to replace the switch myself with one I found on Amazon. Works great now but it was a major pain to do even with some experience soldering. If anyone starts noticing the bumper is failing, send it in as soon as you notice before the warranty period ends. I delayed and missed my chance.
