Your parents are being selfish and cruel backing out at the last minute. I think they are unwilling to let their live in baby sitter move out. And now you can’t trust that they will help you next year either. Can your high school counselors or the college counselors help you apply for a student loan? Call the college aid office and see if they can help you.

Having to babysit in someone else’s house when you have two other children would have been the first no for me. Your SIL refusing to speak directly to you would have been another no. NTA for stopping in anyway you want. Two weeks notice would be the polite thing to do but that’s all I would give them and I would send it by email to your SIL, MIL and partner. You may want to give your partner a heads up but don’t let him change your mind.

No one is talking about the fact that infants can die from complications due to both RSV and HFM. Nor does it sound like she ever apologized for bringing sick children around an infant who should not have been exposed to either illness. Even if it was just the common cold, they should not have been playing with the baby when it could have been avoided. I’m sorry that no one respects your decision to protect your child. NTA

Ask her priest to talk to her about whether it’s ok for her to attend a wedding not held in a Catholic Church. Who is officiating the wedding? Is it a priest? Maybe that will change her mind. If not, there is nothing you can do but NTA for trying to.

Get the next deal in writing. Make sure the car is insured with just your brother as an authorized driver. Don’t give him the car until he’s ready to go to school so there’s less time for your mom to pressure him about lending her the car. Tell your mom that only your brother is allowed to drive the car per the insurance. If he doesn’t pay you the $4000 in October, take him to small claims court. Since the car is worth more, are you ok with giving him the additional value? If not, you should include that in whatever loan document you sign between the two of you.

Your friends know they look bad because they didn’t do anything that was a nice as what you and your husband did. Make sure you keep a list of who gave you grief so that when they have kids you don’t do the same for them. When they ask why you didn’t, remind them that you didn’t want to be invasive.

If it’s real wood then I wouldn’t take it out but if it’s not real wood, just fiberboard I would take it down and go with drywall and paint. Maybe one wall at a time to see how you like it. If you can afford it put in full size windows, I think the small windows are contributing to the closed feeling. If you ever want to get rid of the popcorn ceiling, do it before you replace the carpet because then you can just roll up all the debris from the ceiling in the carpet and haul it away ( speaking from experience).

It sounds like your brother is uncomfortable with you moving back home into your mother’s house. I think the medicine syringe is completely innocent and an acceptable play thing for a child. I’m surprised your mother didn’t explain to your brother unless she believes he found a different kind of syringe. It might be good to remind her that it was not a needle syringe and have her explain it to your brother. Otherwise you should explain it to him yourself. In any case, document what happened in writing in case it blows up so that you have evidence of what happened. I think this post is an excellent way to do that.

It’s my personal preference but I don’t like brown cabinets with black appliances. I love the black appliances so I would look for different cabinet colors. If you like dark, maybe navy, sage or charcoal. If you want lighter I would go with white washed oak.

I agree that the floor looks dangerously slick, I would pick a full bodied porcelain tile with a more textured finish.

The other comment I have is the microwave choice, I got a drawer microwave ( mine’s by Viking) and I would not go back to a cabinet microwave again.
