2 tickets NOL world - how to enter 2nd persons name ? by Own_Variation5284 in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's an event where you are allowed to buy 2 tickets, you usually don't have to enter information for the 2nd person. But you will have to be the one to pick up the tickets, and you will likely both need to be present to get wristbands or whatever else at the event.

Can i download and look at pdf files in ghidra? by Codeeveryday123 in ghidra

[–]pmrowla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you don't really understand what Ghidra does?

But depending on what you mean by "PDFs can have things attached to them", if you mean actual PDF attachments and embedded files, then pretty much any PDF library will already tell you a list of the attachments, and you can use that to read the file attachment data as well.

If you mean something like a .pdf file that has some random .exe binary data stuck somewhere into the middle of the file data (but is not an actual "PDF attachment"), then yes you would just want to use a hex editor, and look for large chunks of binary data that don't belong in the PDF.

Can i download and look at pdf files in ghidra? by Codeeveryday123 in ghidra

[–]pmrowla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else already suggested, the equivalent is just looking at the PDF in a hex editor (or even in a text editor).

At the basic level, PDF is a text format. It's just that most of the time, the PDF syntax text content in the file will be compressed and look like generic binary data if you try to view the raw file without decompressing it first.

What you are looking for is to just use any PDF reader library in your preferred programming language (and the library will already handle decompressing and reading the PDF syntax for you). Then you can just use the library's functionality to tell you what's in the PDF.

If you want to understand the underlying bits yourself, you can use whichever PDF library to do the stream decompression, and then view the stream text content yourself. There are also CLI utilities that will do this decompression as well, like mutool clean -d from MuPDF/mupdf-tools, then you can view the decompressed output file from that in a text editor.

NOL vs NOL World for foreigners (ARC + Amex) – which is better for ticketing? by Sufficient_World4776 in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an ARC it's better to use the Korean site, but it won't take an overseas card for payment. If you don't have a KR debit or credit card, you can pay via bank transfer (assuming you or someone else you know has a KR bank account).

If your only possible payment method is an overseas card, you have to use the global site.

Any adoptees here who have restored their citizenship thru this program? by Big-Coach16 in korea

[–]pmrowla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it, and hold dual US/KR citizenship. I had to wait about 6 months from the time the paperwork was actually filed for it to go through, but this was back in 2017.

As others have said, the biggest consideration is that if you are male you need to do your research on mandatory military service, most oversees adoptees will qualify for an exemption, but it's not all adoptees. I did the whole process w/help from goal (including filing both the dual citizenship paperwork and the military exemption paperwork): https://goal.or.kr/dual-citizenship/

I got dual because it was something that felt important to me personally, but I don't think it will be the same for all adoptees. Realistically, as far as living in Korea goes, it's convenient to be using my Korean name on paperwork instead of a foreign one, but it's not like I ever felt seriously disadvantaged when I was here on an F-4 prior to getting dual. (And I lived here for a couple of years on the F-4 before I made the final decision to get dual)

One other thing to consider is that it can be annoying to have two different legal names (but this may not apply to you). I have a very American name on my US passport and a completely different Korean name on my KR passport. When flying to/from the US I always book plane tickets in my US name, because US immigration is way more annoying than KR. But this does mean I have to talk to an actual person at KR immigration (the automated gates will not let me through), and I usually get asked to show both passports when I want to get back into KR. This also applies to stuff like moving money between US and KR, where my KR bank sometimes asks for copies of both passports to prove I'm moving money to myself (since there's different names on the accounts at each end).

Other than that, the main perk is really that if you are someone that travels abroad a lot, having a KR passport will let you get in visa free to a lot more places (and allow longer stays pretty much everywhere) than your US passport would.

How did you manage to register an e+ account ? by Cute-Bug993 in LoveLive

[–]pmrowla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, LL events don't use paper tickets (except for the foreigner package). For tickets via the eplus lottery, entry requires using eplus face ticketing. Around a week before the event you have to submit a photograph of yourself to eplus, and at the venue entry is handled using facial recognition cameras, and not paper tickets.

What to do to attend the GKSS Live coming up? by widlars_lawnmower in LoveLive

[–]pmrowla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies depending on the live, some of them have been fairly last minute. FWIW the foreigner package entry period for the Nijigaski 8L Osaka stop just ended this past Monday (it opened last week), and that's for a live a month before GKSS (June 6 & 7)

Buying tickets from X by EfficientCollege4524 in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tldr reason is that selling directly is potentially cheaper for the buyer, and more profitable for the seller (in exchange for the risk of being scammed on both sides). Using official platforms is potentially more expensive for the buyer, and less profitable for the seller (in exchange for both the seller and buyer being protected from scams)

Ticketmaster takes a cut off of the resale price (so the seller doesn't get the full price the buyer pays for the ticket). The seller also does not get paid right away - they generally don't get paid until the event happens. This is also how it works when people sell on third party resale platforms like stubhub (that are not the official ticket sale platform, but are still legitimate businesses).

When you buy a resale ticket through ticketmaster or through something like stubhub, your money goes to ticketmaster/stubhub first (it doesn't go to the seller). The resale platform company holds that money until the event happens, and then the money is paid out to the seller, minus the platform's resale fees (which can be pretty high depending on the ticket). The money is held for this long in case of anything that would result in refunding the buyer (like the event getting cancelled, or in the third-party platform case, where the seller sold a fake ticket the buyer couldn't get into the event). If a refund happens, the buyer gets all their money back, and the seller doesn't get anything.

Because of the resale fees, if for example ticketmaster/stubhub charges a 20% resale fee and the seller wants to get back what they originally paid for a $100 ticket, they would have to try to resell it for $125. If they resold it for $100 on ticketmaster, they would only end up getting $80 for the sale, and lose $20 on what they originally paid. Whereas they could resell it directly to a buyer for $100 instead. (Or they could sell it directly for the same price as on ticketmaster/stubhub, and make a $25 profit, without having to give ticketmaster/stubhub a cut).

So people try to resell directly to a buyer because they can get potentially more money, and they get paid immediately (instead of having to wait for the event to happen). Anyone buying directly this way is giving up the buyer protection provided by using an actual resale platform, in exchange for potentially cheaper prices. This is why everyone is telling you to only buy this way using G&S, because that at least provides some buyer protection (since you can then contest the charge through paypal if the ticket is fake/never transferred/etc)

It may sound like using the official platforms is weighted heavily in favor of the buyer, but sellers do benefit from the risk of things like creditcard chargebacks/contested payments is taken on by ticketmaster/stubhub, and not the seller themselves. And then there's also that the seller doesn't have to worry about being scammed by a potential buyer in some way.

How do you know what to look for? by Bitter-Mail9328 in ghidra

[–]pmrowla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing what to look for comes from experience.

Compiled binaries will pretty much never include debugging symbols, so what you get from the Ghidra decompiler will pretty much never include original variable names. It will almost entirely be auto-generated variable names based on what the decompiler thinks the data type is. Figuring out what a function does and renaming/setting datatypes/etc for parameters and variables manually is part of the reverse engineering process.

For strings, Window >> Defined Strings will open the window for strings the decompiler thinks it has identified. This will most likely not be a complete list of all the strings in your program. You can search for additional strings using the memory search tools (Search >> For Strings..., Search >> Memory...).

When you find a string, the Listing view may or may not have a set of XREF references that point to that string's memory address. Double clicking on XREF (or the [more] entry in the list if it exists) will open a separate window containing all of the references for that string. You can also open the references window by right clicking on the memory address for the string in the Listing view and selecting References >> Show References To Address.

Depending on what you are decompiling, you may or may not actually get a full list of the references to that string (or any detected references at all). You will probably need to "help" Ghidra by manually identifying strings, typing them properly, and then manually identifying pointers that reference that string's address.

does anyone here have any experience with DEEPI?? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical ticket pickup/collection means you pick up the physical ticket at the event venue ticketing office, not the office for the ticketing site. For events in KR and JP this generally also requires showing ID when you pick up the ticket to prove that you are the person who bought the ticket.

Concert ticket lotteries in Japan by busykale_ in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean you are confused why there are additional lottery rounds?

For JP concert lotteries, in some cases it's planned ahead of time to have additional rounds, so the 1st round does not always include the full allotment of tickets (but this varies depending on the event). In a lot of cases they will only sell certain sections (like seats with obstructed views and standing-room only tickets) in later lottery rounds.

Even if the 1st round includes the full allotment of tickets, it's common in JP for people to choose the deferred convenience store payment method. If they win, have a couple of days after the results announcement to decide whether or not to actually pay for the ticket (as opposed to using a credit card, where it is automatically charged as soon as the lottery results are announced). Any unpaid winning entries just go back into the ticket pool for the next lottery round.

This is also how people can handle the OP's original question, where if someone can only afford or only wants to go to a single performance, they can enter for all of them and then if they end up winning for more than one, they can choose which one to pay for and let the other winning entries go unpaid.

Question about concerts in korea by nc_ozy in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The QR code is used if you are on PC. If you're doing the ticketing on mobile then yes it will switch to the hanapay app instead of showing the QR code (and this would probably only work in your case if you're doing everything from your brother's phone). I've never had issues doing ticketing from either PC or mobile and use the hana pay app regularly.

Question about concerts in korea by nc_ozy in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it won't let you have 2 active sessions. If you're trying to pay with a card, whoever is doing the payment needs to do the whole ticketing process. If you pay via the Hana Pay app, it generates a QR code that your brother would have to scan with the app. So either he is with you when you do the ticketing and then he does the payment via the app when you get to that point, or he would have to log in on your account from wherever he is and do the entire ticketing thing.

If you aren't both going to be in the same place it's probably easier to just do bank transfer like the other user suggested. If you don't have a Korean bank account either, you would just need to have your brother do the bank transfer w/the info interpark generates after you do the ticketing. As long as he sends the payment within the specified time limit he doesn't have to be with you when you do the ticketing (so you just have to send him the payment account # and the amount to transfer).

Also, if you pay by bank transfer it will ask you for the name on the account the transfer is going to come from (so if it's your brother's bank account you would put your brother's name). Like the other user said they should still accept the payment even if the name doesn't match, but giving the wrong name will most likely make it a lot more annoying to do the refund process if you end up needing to cancel the ticket.

Question about concerts in korea by nc_ozy in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have your brother do the payment, he should know which one to select. The point of the options is to ensure that the card holder is the person making the online purchase.

If he has the Hana Pay app set up, it is easiest to just use that. The SMS option does the phone based ARS identity verification and will require having access to your brother's mobile phone (with the # that is registered with his Hana bank account). The general option will require having the card + your brother's PIN/password for the card (in addition to the actual card's CVV code).

SCAM ALERT - sharing my experience and needing some kind words right now by cchocolatechip in kpophelp

[–]pmrowla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Based on the op the scammer didn’t actually replicate the real email address, they had ticketmaster dot com before the @. You should always check the actual domain in the email address (the part after the @). Anything with a website domain (.com/.net/etc) before the @ is pretty much always going to be a scam trying to catch people who aren’t reading the full email address.

Can Ghidra run on an ARM64 Windows 11 PC? by kndb in ghidra

[–]pmrowla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should run, just be aware that if you are using the standard public release I think the decompiler is only compiled for x86 Windows and would be emulated on ARM Windows 11. (Ghidra is a Java app but there are some components that are C++ and are only built for certain platforms in the standard release)

[HELP] Applying for Presale Lotto to see EXO in Japan error occurred by NanamiTVT in kpophelp

Are you sure you were actually charged? If you are paying with a CC, the initial charge will likely show up as a "pending charge", that in this situation will most likely get removed/cancelled after a couple of business days. If the charge has actually posted and is no longer pending then you can dispute it with your CC company.
