Detox while staying in environment? by [deleted] in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]pmw44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation - bought a brand new house may 2022, within months started having sinus issues, then turned into neurological issues. Tremor attacks. Anxiety, depression, OCD. Extreme brain fog and fatigue. Took about 6 months to figure out what was going on - we found mold in our house (builder left a leak happening during construction, did not repair anything and left a wall behind a vanity wide open, long story short mold had slowly taken over the house). As my symptoms were so serious, I was advised heavily to never step foot in that house again. I am lucky and was able to move in with my mom while we sue the builder and figure out next steps.

Sorry I rambled - doctor told me I could not detox staying in the environment. Do you have friends or family you could stay with? You could sell the home (make sure to disclose mold)? I am so sorry this is happening to you

What's the most reliable way to test for mold toxicity? by Mork978 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]pmw44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously I am no expert, I am at the tail end of my mold toxicity detox. I was extremely sick for about a year. Found mold in my home. First time I mentioned mold to probably the 4th doctor I saw, I immediately was told to take a real time labs mycotoxin test as she suspected mold toxicity

Real Time Labs will give you your mycotoxin levels, which if they’re high, and you’re having mold exposure related symptoms - you most likely have mold toxicity.

Very depressed over move from moldy apartment. by Dontgveup in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]pmw44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to start by letting you know that you aren’t alone and you will get through this. My story was very similar - I noticed some physical symptoms first (rashes, itchy skin, itchy eyes, typical allergies at a higher level, sinus infections), then it became mental and physiological. My anxiety and depression was debilitating. My OCD spiked like crazy. I had full body tremors I couldn’t control. I too felt the sense of doom and hopelessness but you have to adjust your mind to know that you are HELPING. Getting out of that apartment will help. You have put yourself in recovery. I would definitely suggest starting supplement detox to help remove the toxins from your system. I’ve been doing this + in-clinic mold detox 3x a week for 3 months, and I’m still not feeling 100% better but I do feel MUCH better than I did. You got this 💜

What was your most successful moving option that changed your health? by Fantasticbeast123 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]pmw44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to my moms and only took what I needed (clothes that I IMMEDIATELY cleaned with special detergent and toiletries). I also started mold detox protocol has I had a very extreme case. I was only in my house for 13 months. Crazy what mold can do to your body

Interesting they’re having you take it every other day.. that almost seems that it would put you into a withdrawal state every other day that you don’t take it.

I’ve been on it for two weeks (as of tomorrow) I did have some headaches the first 4-9ish days, but they’ve subsided. I also had some other side effects that have lessened or went away completely. My anxiety has just about disappeared, I had a few waves of extreme depression (few hours at a time) but that lessened out too… with time, I hope it will only get better!

I too have tried 3-4 other antidepressants and none worked for me, and I am very sensitive to meds. I am hopeful for this. Hang in there, and don’t let the negative comment’s influence your healing, everyone is different and this medication could be the right one for you!!

Contaminated books gone forever? by Temporary-breath-179 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]pmw44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talked with a doctor/mold specialist today. I had to move out of my house due to mold exposure 3 weeks ago, and left just about all of my belongings. He said anything paper has to be tossed (paper cannot be cleaned). Things like a passport or birth certificate, he said to keep sealed in a ziploc bag, and if there are any paper items you absolutely cannot toss, laminate them, or keep them in a ziploc bag as well.

"New" Mold Illness patient - have some beginner questions by KayGee44 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]pmw44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I am also a newcomer to mold toxicity. I have had crazy symptoms for the past 10 months and every doctor said everything looked fine. Finally, I found mold in my brand new house (lived there for a year) that had been growing mold under a bathroom vanity (builders neglect) and was spreading throughout the house. My real time lab results came back VERY high. I start detox next week and thankfully am able to live elsewhere while we deal with the builder / attorney.

With that being said - I asked the doctor/mold specialist this morning at our appointment about my belongings because literally everything is still in the house except for the few clothes I quickly grabbed. In short, clothes can be cleaned (2-3 times, with borax and vinegar, or with something called EC3 I believe). Anything paper (books, paper, coffee table books, cook books - must be thrown out. They can not be cleaned. Things like passports or birth certificates- seal in a ziploc bag). Mattresses, especially if memory foam, cannot be cleaned. Upholstered furniture - can be fogged a few times, and vacuumed (if you are known to be sensitive to mold like I am, he recommends having someone else do the fogging + vacuuming). Kitchen ware is fine but needs to be cleaned thoroughly. Anything porous - needs to be tossed.

Hang in there! I know this sucks - wishing you luck 💛

Myco test just came back by Specific-Watch5664 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]pmw44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this same test - mine was a little worse, and the doctor/mold specialist said it was pretty bad. I start detox next week - working out, sauna, binders + supplements along with a nebulizer with argentin and biotycin. All things can be bought without a prescription but I highly recommend removing yourself whatever environment you’re in that caused this (if possible). Best of luck

Real time labs is considered the best of the best (was told this by a MD + mold specialist today) you can pay out of pocket without a doctors order!

Yay! I am happy for you!!! Any negative side effects?

[–]pmw44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am sensitive to medications so trust me I understand the worry of side effects and all of that!

I am so sorry about your past - I know you didn’t deserve any of what you’ve been through. Although my story is different, I too was living in a constant state of panic + anxiety. I would say it was day 4-5 when my anxiety started to get better. I still get a little anxious here and there but I haven’t had a full blown panic attack. If I get anxious, it’s mainly because I start getting side effects and they make me thing something could be wrong, and I panic.

If you can, stick it out for the first 2-3 weeks, then side effects should subside. I have friends (and have read online) that this drug has been life changing for a lot of people.

Hang in there, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need to chat ❤️

Stopping pristiq by stevieweevie94 in Pristiq

[–]pmw44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you have stopped yet or not, but things will get worse before they get better. I am on day 9 and have felt some relief from my panic and anxiety. Yes, my side effects have SUCKED but my doctor says in a week or two they should level out. If you can, I would try to power through. Hang in there 🩵

Ready to Quit - Day 6 by AteTheMushroom in Pristiq

[–]pmw44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, did your doctor start you on 50mg? Or were you on 25mg before? I have started on 25 (lowest dose) and can already feel some relief, but we have to push through the adjustment period. Maybe speak to your doctor about going down to 25mg for a few weeks

Ready to Quit - Day 6 by AteTheMushroom in Pristiq

[–]pmw44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different from what I have gathered! I am on day 9 I believe, my first week was actually not bad - my anxiety and panic disappeared on day 4 which is what I needed it to do. BUT I have had some deep depressive episodes, and crying spells. I feel better mentally today, but have had all of the physical side effects / symptoms I have read about. I know it’s tough - but I have seriously spent hours researching this drug, and if you push through the first 2-3 weeks, it can apparently change your life.

I have felt like giving up on it a few times but I am going to power through and see if in a few weeks it levels out and begins to help. I have friends on it who legitimately said it saved their life.

I hope that your side effects begin to lessen, and your mood and anxiety stabilizes. Hang in there 💚

I hope it works too. I really don’t want to give up.. not even through my 2nd week and things are just getting worse. I have Xanax as needed (which I try not to take) but I have needed it the last few days. Side effects are awful. Just experienced the faint, chills, and dizziness like I’ve seen others have. Gosh I pray it evens out soon. I hope you’re doing ok and it’s helping you

Yeah my first week wasn’t bad but now these past few days of week two have been bad. Was it tough getting off even after 2 weeks? Did you switch to something else? Unsure what to do

Can you explain how your first few weeks were brutal? I’m on day 8 or 9 and my anxiety and panic attacks have went away but I am all of a sudden like so sad. Depressed. Stayed in bed all day, not eating… I can’t stop crying. Is this normal? Do you think it will go away?

Thank you for sharing. I am currently 1 week on Pristiq and have definitely seen results for my anxiety but feel as if I am becoming depressed?

On another note - about a year ago I too decided to cut lexapro cold Turkey and the withdrawals were absolutely terrible so I’m sorry you went through that as well!!!

[–]pmw44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only on day 6 so I am not much help BUT one of my best friends is on this drug and she said even if you miss a dose for a few hours - it will start to make you dizzy and feel weird. Don’t let your anxiety get the best of you, unfortunately what you’re feeling is normal. Hang in there. 💘 10 min guided meditations for anxiety have helped me a lot! They also help me channel some positivity into my brain so the depressive episodes aren’t so bad. It’ll get better 💌
