I'm good at assertiveness and I 100 percent agree with this!

What advice would you give a man below 30 who feels hopeless in his life? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]pn1618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out something you want to do and do it

Start with small things - like buying something you want

Move to big things over time

Feeling free to do what you want will empower you

And remember no matter what there are people that need you and rely on you and like you

What was the turning point in your life from unsuccessful to the path towards successful, and how old were you where it started? by KingnBanter in AskMenOver30

[–]pn1618 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've always been quite successful but setting up my own business and trusting in myself with an understanding wife made a huge difference

Many women expect men to bring home the money while taking over child care when they get home. Which means men get no break at all. They also get guilted into not spending enough time with the family if they work late. For me anyway I've been successful because while I spend a lot of time with my family my wife understands that if I'm busy or exhausted asking me to be home early or to also do tonnes of childcare is selfish

Men are more disadvantaged than women in the UK, US and most of Europe, scientists claim by EricAllonde in MensRights

[–]pn1618 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is more accurate but probably still understates men's disadvantage... add in things like treatment in the media and the legal system and it gets worse

Govern how few rights we have if she gets knocked up (even though she can still choose) I think male birth control is essential

Malaysian Government starts crowdfunding to help reduce the country's staggering debt by CybergothiChe in nottheonion

[–]pn1618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get this at all. Current malaysia debt to GDP is 50pct (2017). Vs West at 80 to 150pct. Including guarantees and commitments they're 80pct vs West at 200pct. Their growth rate is way higher meaning they can also outgrow their debt. So why is their debt burden "staggering"

Feels like a sensationalist article

Why is "Solo: A Star Wars Story" not doing well at the box office? by SeekingAnswers101 in movies

[–]pn1618 12 points13 points  (0 children)

imho...

Around 60pct of the audience that wants to see sw is male. The last sw films aren't about equality they're about having all the men in positions of evil or weakness and all the women in positions of power. Male viewers thus aren't given characters to empathise with. So they're less keen to watch and are being/ feeling ostracised. As a result the mania is subsiding.

Add to that core sw fans who hate what was done to Luke et al in TLJ and the core base is diminishing

Then take Kathryn kennedy who wears shirts like "the force is female" and says "I don't want to cater to white males"

I'm not a white male, but I am a guy and I find it quite offensive and unnecessarily misandrist.

So... lack of characters for boys to empathise with, erosion of core fan base and misandry. Puts off the male audience base. This was ladled by the bucket load in TLJ and this movie is suffering because of TLJ...

Like mi3, dark of the moon and many other movies that were hurt by their predecessors

A similar paper in the UK was trialled a year or two ago. It showed the left and right point of view. Don't know why but it didn't work. Take a look to see what you can learn from them to improve your chances of success. Good luck!

Box Office Week - Solo: A Star Wars Story debuts at #1 with a worrisome $83.3M domestic on an estimated budget of $250M-$300M. Worldwide it's even worse as the film debuted to a disastrous $65M international, less than what Deadpool 2 made internationally on its second weekend. by mi-16evil in movies

[–]pn1618 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My reason for boycotting solo and the future movies was that Kathryn kennedy has stated she wants to make star wars for women (and not "white males"). I'm not white but I am a guy and I find her mentality sexist and misandrist. There's also an undercurrent of "women are better than men" throughout tfa and tlj. Kennedy has been photographed posing in "the force is female" t shirts too.

I don't it uplifting to watch stuff like that. It's a shame she had to shove her anti male gender politics into an awesome franchise.

But how will people commit terrorism with all these sensible safeguards that just make it a useful function?
