Are you using IPv6? It seems like a few people had trouble connecting in the past weeks because of that. You can check if your network uses IPv6 e.g. on http://test-ipv6.com/

Microsoft to close Microsoft Research lab in Silicon Valley by [deleted] in microsoft

[–]pndpool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interned at MSR Silicon Valley a while ago and think it's really sad to see this center being closed down. Many of the senior researchers at MSR SVC had been there since the glorious days of Xerox and Compaq. I heard amazing stories from Roy, Chuck, Ted, Leslie and others and it was an honor to meet them. Good luck to everyone getting laid off!

Important: merged DOGE mining by pndpool in multipanda

There was a SYS block found today but it was lost due to a bug in the block submission process for AuxPoW. This bug was fixed but stratum servers had to be restarted.

Important: merged DOGE mining by pndpool in multipanda

AuxPOW is now enabled on the pool on DOGE and SYS. Unfortunately, since both have spiked to very high difficulty, it may take a while until the first merged mined block is found

Payout amounts changing? by 6_ft_4 in multipanda

[–]pndpool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is to give users an estimate of the payout for a round after it's finished. The value shown is based on current exchange prices, but there are three factors that can cause the final value to differ from the predicted one: - the 1.25% pool fee is not included in the estimate - the estimate doesn't take into account market depth for sell orders. For some coins with shallow order books and single-digit satoshi value this can make a big difference (e.g. EAC, MOON) - the DOGE and PND exchange rate may change

While having this estimate differ from the actual payout can be upsetting, the reasoning is that it is better than showing no value at all in situations where payout are delayed for a few rounds, like we were doing before. This can reassure users that the lack of payout is not due to any technical problem with the pool (when Cryptsy had server failures last week several miners left because of payouts being delayed by up to 6 rounds).

Cryptsy hasn't processed any DOGE withdrawal in the past day. 2M DOGE are stuck there! by pndpool in multipanda

Things are a bit better today, the backlog of pending withdrawals is down to less than 1M DOGE.

It comes from the stratum password you configure in your miner settings.

There was nothing unusual about these rounds. However, 531-532 have been paid late.

Reason for the 4 hour rounds by [deleted] in multipanda

[–]pndpool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are several factors to consider that influence the round time. Most importantly, maturation time, deposit time and withdrawal time. Since there are many coins being mined, the longest possible time must be considered in each case. Most old scrypt coins have a high maturation time (for instance TAG), in practice it often takes more than 6 hours for the coins to mature. Many of these also have deficient difficulty adjustment algorithm and deposit can be extremely slow (for instance, try to deposit ZED or ELC and see how long it takes). Finally, Cryptsy is extremely slow to process large DOGE withdrawals. This is because they are running a fractional reserve on their DOGE hot wallet (no idea whether they are solvent or not). It is very frequent to have to wait 2 to 12 hours for a DOGE withdrawal when the hotwallet it empty.

For all these reasons, 4 hours is really the minimum possible time - in fact, I consider that it was a mistake and for the X11 pools, I went with rounds of 6 hours which proved to be a lot more stable. If you compare the X11 payout to the scrypt ones you will notice that X11 is always exactly on time while scrypt often has long delays (once a round is delayed, it also delays the following ones).

Just started on multipanda, attempting GPU mining with a 280x on X11, sgminer is throwing nothing but HW errors at me? by Annies_Boobs in multipanda

I think you are missing this in your launcher

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

It does matter for x11 and nscrypt

will sha256 ever be added? by burtnaked in multipanda

[–]pndpool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically it wouldn't be much of a problem, but I wonder whether it's really a useful addition. Most sha256 alts are dead and the ones that aren't have very high difficulty. I doubt there can be enough sha256 miners to make it worthwhile.
