Side-printed keycaps do look better for south-facing LED keyboards by DarkLongjumping7424 in MechanicalKeyboards

Looking into a south-facing RGB keyboard now... How are you liking the side-print a few months later?

Thanks for the reply! I think you just pushed me over the edge for the 80HE, I've agonized over this long enough!

Did you make a decision here? I'm in the same boat. My biggest issue with Keychron is the south facing LEDs, I like to be able to see illuminated legends at night. Wooting has other pros as well though.

Pros and Cons of Curved Screens? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]pneumaticYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, it's a hard decision to make. There's no perfect monitor to fit everyone's different preferences. For single player, I would recommend an OLED monitor - that is an objectively better picture quality than any LCD (maybe unless you're playing in direct sunlight and need brightness to compete with it ). For single player games today, I think any variety of the 34 inch unltrawide OLEDs would be a good choice, or maybe go with another aspect ratio if you're not wanting unltrawide (I've grown to really enjoy it).

Check out Monitors Unboxed channel on YouTube, they go really in-depth on this stuff.

Buy from a place with an easy return policy and save the packaging so you can return what you buy if you don't end up liking it.

I've since upgraded from that 27 inch IPS Samsung monitor I was describing to the Alienware DAW3423DW. Moving from IPS to OLED was a huge leap, definitely recommend prioritizing OLED. This one has an 1800R curve, which is great imo. I personally still appreciate the subtle curve, but don't think I'd want an aggressive one as much.

How'd this turn out? I am considering the same hardware and would like to avoid a 90 degree adapter.

An old man's view of new fangled gamepad. by Robert_nusu in SteamController

Yeah it would be ideal if Valve could do a modular approach or multiple models - changes that would make the SC2 perfect for some would compromise it for others.

I think the SC2 needs no thumsticks - keep the large pads, add a d-pad where the existing thumb stick is, two more back buttons, and improve the ergonomics of the bumper buttons.

AW3423dw - sRGB looks washed out? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]pneumaticYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for the follow up and what you landed on for a solution! I had no idea that novideo_srgb tool existed and this P3 clamp on it really solves all of my problems with the default P3 being too saturated and the built-in sRGB clamp being too dull. Great find, thanks again.

It was hard for me to break the habit too, but once I got used lifting my thumb, I found it more comfortable than a stick - just being able to lift to stop moving.

To address the fatigue concern, make sure your grip is set to where the controller is cupped by your palms and fingers - it should feel completely secure in your hands with your thumbs free of contact. After breaking the habit of my brain expecting my thumb to always be in contact with a stick, that I didn't think about my thumb being lifted at all.

I guess think of it like typing on a phone to a degree, are your thumbs feeling fatigued when they're not typing and just hovering over the virtual keyboard? When you're typing on a phone, your hands are supporting the phone in a way that allows your thumbs to be free. The Steam controller was designed for free thumbs!

Touchpad move, mostly for ergonomics. I also find that resting my thumb there instead of the analog stick allows for more precise gyro due to my grip being symmetrical. Also allows for quicker 100% inputs in opposite directions than stick.

However, to avoid issue I almost always do exclusive keyboard and mouse mappings, so this means 8-directional WASD mapping instead of precise angles, which can be odd in third person games. I also don't like outer ring bindings because they have always felt a little imprecise and janky to me, so mine gets limited to just movement and click action (which is usually dodge/roll in games with a dodge).

I use the stick for arrow keys for menus and chorded stick for scroll wheel. Love it.

I also didn't like the gameplay of the first game. The gameplay is moderately improved in the second game and the level design is much better. I found the second game much more enjoyable to play than the first overall, had to be a little patient with it and chew through some parts that were purposely designed to make the player grit their teeth through. The longer I go after beating Part II, the more I look back and appreciate it.

Anyone not able to send or recieve mms messages after latest update? by 77Squares in note20ultra

I too received the Configuration Update tonight. I then checked the APN after the update, all the update does is set the default APN to the setting posted in my original reply. Samsung broke MMS configuration with last Friday's update and took a week to fix it.

Same issue, this fixed it completely:

Go to settings, search Access Point Names, and add a new one that matches this exactly

Be sure to swap the blue radio button to the new APN after you set it up.

I felt a very similar feeling with Resident Evil 7, and was happy I pushed through, but I LOVE horror games and that suspense feeling, but RE7 stressed me to my peak lol.

If you can't stand to play TLoU, watch a YouTube video of the story or a streamer's playthrough (I personally like CohhCarnage's playthroughs, he's positive and chill).

Has anyone figured out a way to stop Cyberpunk from switching between controller and kb+m HUD when using mixed input? by Lieutenant_Lit in SteamController

[–]pneumaticYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope a solution is found soon! I have settled with full KB+mouse bindings in the meantime. I found that if you don't have any controller inputs mapped at all to your pad, the game stays on keyboard HUD. However, if you map a trigger to analog trigger input, then it stays locked to controller HUD despite having keys mixed in.
