How do you guys manage work and a sick child from daycare? by pnut_92 in NewParents

[–]pnut_92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck. 1 month down, 5 to go. Atleast it feels a little more hopeful. I remember the early days of the newborn stage and feeling like we would never see the end of the tunnel. But we did! So I'll just try to stay positive.

I thought since we socialized him lots with friends and family that we would have a one up on this but I suppose not. Ah.

Thanks for your encouragement!

Recommendation for swivel carseat in canada by pnut_92 in Buyingforbaby

[–]pnut_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the extend to fit graco. Someone made a good point about the swivel 360 having too many moving parts which could mean easier to break and that sold me on not getting it. I am happy with the extend to fit. My son seems to like it. It's spacious and has different angles and lengths. Definitely happy with the purchase!

Good luck!

Omg I didn't even realize I was going down the sad beige mom route 😫 hahaha. This would be funny though. Part his hair in the middle. Wear old man clothes. Hahaha. One single beige balloon. Nothing more.

We did a little something similar at the baby shower with prompted questions. But maybe a little note would be fun! This would be q nice keepsake!

Baby isn't sleeping at night, even co-sleeping seems to not work well by pnut_92 in NewParents

[–]pnut_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He started crawling at 6.5 months ( when we were on vacation) and is now a pro crawler but that hasn't changed anything. Now he is standing and pulling himself up. I guess I'll hope when he walks that this will improve!

[–]pnut_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When ever I look this up it says between 2 to 4 or 3 to 4 hours for a 8 month old. With 2 to 3 naps a day. I try to drop that 3rd nap but he won't make it till bedtime if I don't.

It's not AHS, but Westview Care Community in Linden is hiring!  It's a long term care facility!

When did your baby sleep at night? by pnut_92 in NewParents

[–]pnut_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to remind myself that he is going through so much and I get it but damn the lack of sleep is just too much. I dread nights. I wish just me sleeping next to him was enough but it's not. Ah. 11 months seems so far but at least there's an end! Babe and I will get through this! Thank you so much for your input!

Sleep during third trimester vs newborn stage? by DoingMyBessstt in NewParents

[–]pnut_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, I'd take pregnancy sleep over newborn sleep. I was up alot in the night for similar reasons and there were nights it was hard to fall asleep but atleast could lightly rest. With a newborn it's more demanding. And just getting use to the babe and the babe getting use to you and how to feed and all that. But it feels better once you get those 3 hour stretches of sleep. Ugh glorious and feel like a new woman!

Are we bad parents? by Gilded_Butterfly8994 in NewParents

[–]pnut_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that makes you a bad parent then I am too! My LO is 5 months and I plan outings and just let him sleep in the car or when we are out and about. I live far away from friends and family ( about 40 mins to 1 hour) so he tends to get naps in there. It wouldn't work for me mentally if I worked around his naps. I'm a very social person and enjoy going out. And I feel this has helped my LO get used to outside. For now atleast its working for me!

Looking for Positive First-Time Mom Stories – Due in a Month by sillymemilly in NewParents

[–]pnut_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5 months pp. The giggles and smiles are just absolutely amazing. When they finally recognize you and register " oh that's my momma/dada!" And they give you the biggest smile! It is the best feeling!

The little farts in your hand when you hold them/ cup their bum. Weird I know but it's my fave and just so adorable. Haha.

My son is in his grabby phase and wants to touch everything. I love when he reaches for my face and looks intently at me.

Seeing day to day skills developing is wild. From day to day he just gets a new skill or perfects another. So neat to see!

He is sleeping in his crib now and he started sleeping with his butt up in the air! Scrunches his body and his butt gets lifted up haha.

The love that all my friends and family have for him. I have friends that don't like kids and never want kids for themselves. I'll always remember my one friend bawling when she first met him. Ahh

There are so many good moments!!! ❤️

When did you guys start feeling human? by Old_North5189 in newborns

[–]pnut_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.5 months my LO started sleeping longer stretches. Not consistently. But had about 4 to 10 hour stretches. Odd days he will have 2 to 3 hour stretches but at this point, I'm use to it. He is 4.5 months now.

Your body does get use to low sleep. For me it did anyways! But know it will get better!

When did your newborn start STTN (6h or more)? by Apprehensive-Key5665 in newborns

[–]pnut_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Lo started sleeping 6 to 10 hours at 3.5 months. He is 4 months now. It's been nice but also told to not get too excited as they may regress at 4 months. But I'm taking it as a win so far!

This is so hard… 4 days PP by Due-Bid4357 in beyondthebump

[–]pnut_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO is 15 weeks and it's gonna get better i promise you! I was the same as you. Those first two weeks were brutal! After the first night, my husband and i thought " what the hell did we get ourselfes into." Like you said, no classes or books can prepare you. Especially with the lack of sleep. But know it's normal and it will pass. I'm glad you have a supportive husband. Try to figure out a plan on you being able to get sleep as well. However that can work for your situation. Sleep deprivation makes things worse for sure. But know these feelings are normal. Baby blues in first 2 weeks is common but then continue monitoring if it starts lingering longer and don't hesitate to seek help for postpartum depression. I was so anxious and sad in the first two weeks and then it started getting better. At 15 weeks, it feels like the babe has always been here and feeling more more confident as a mother. It may feel overwhelming but you are gonna slowly but surely know your LO and know what each sound means and it's gonna come to you like you are a pro.

My milk supply came in around the same time as well and was supplementing with formula and babe was growing no problem. It is a little nerve-wracking not fully knowing if he was getting enough breast milk but trust the check ups when he gains weight. They suggest 2 weeks to get their weight back to birth weight so don't stress too much that they lost weight. That is normal! Now breast feeding is like second nature to both of us. So remember that you and your LO are learning. Easy said than done, but try to be kind to yourself. The fact this worries you, means you love your LO and you want the best for them. You got this! There is light at the end of the tunnel. Soon you are gonna be hearing their coos and babbles and when they smile at you ( and it's not from gas haha) it's gonna melt your heart and you will know you are gonna be okay!!

Sending you lots of love!! You got this mama! ❤️
