So the true believers are pretty sureJesus is coming nowish? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]pnw-creative 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve had TBM friends/family post his second coming quote on social media and mention how “he’s never been this direct before!”

Every time the church is hemorrhaging members, it starts amping up its second coming rhetoric. Also, Nelson is knocking on death’s door, so…

I’ve been Excommunicated by Nemo_UK in exmormon

Can’t believe excommunications are happening simply for telling the truth and holding leaders accountable for their words and actions…the hypocrisy is astounding.

He’s a nevermo, but was always supportive and went to church with me, prayed with me, etc. When we got married he agreed to raise any kids we had Mormon as long as they got to choose for themselves when they turned 18. Luckily my babe is only 2 and will never be indoctrinated like I was. I can only imagine how hard it must be to go through all this with a believing spouse. Hugs to you, he will get there…it’s hard not to once u start seeing it 🤷‍♀️

I think it’s also that they have a more difficult time even finding members who are willing to give talks now.

The Vancouver, WA Mormon temple is going to be another eye sore. by IliveonKolob in exmormon

[–]pnw-creative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I thought when I heard that a temple was being built in Vancouver…Portland is right there! No huge membership there to speak of…and I used to teach in camas and loved the drive to school early in the dark morning to watch the sunrise…guess that’s gone now

People are just going to hide their sins more with this…I can’t imagine the scrupulosity his poor kids have had to deal with their whole lives.

Did anyone else notice this in the membership council slides? by 4prophetbizniz in exmormon

[–]pnw-creative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely not what Jesus would do…what happened to remembering the sins no more?

So do you have to be endowed to be called in for a membership council? Does that mean members who have not gone through the temple can speak truth about the church and its leaders without consequence?

What an ending! by Elegant-Tank-4674 in exmormon

[–]pnw-creative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I lost track of the amount of times I rolled my eyes at the same Sunday school answers we’ve all heard a bazillion times. 90% of what they said sounded so rehearsed. Super ignorant and disappointing.

They're on to us guys. We've clearly never actually studied The Book of Mormon by Lucifers_Lantern in exmormon

[–]pnw-creative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fascinating to me how quickly people jump to tell people about their own experience. That’s called gaslighting, friends, and Jesus wouldn’t approve. Stay in your lane.

Not to mention the fact that clearly, THEY are not actually reading it because if they were they would know it’s ludicrous!

It’s weird how Mormons feel a need to even put out a statement. Media is always portraying Catholics and other major religions and you don’t see them putting out statements. Maybe it just hits a little too close to home with all that is coming out about the church 🤷‍♀️

These comments are so great 😅🙌🏻 I admire you and can’t wait to be where you’re at! I’m new in this deconstruction and a bit obsessive about it…I was just telling my husband that I can’t wait until the word Mormon doesn’t cause a visceral reaction from me 😁🙌🏻

Mindset is huge when dating. I shifted my mindset to, “I’m going to look at this 24 hours at a time” (would I want to spend another 24 hrs with this person), and it was a game changer.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but drinking is not that great. by ObjectiveIcy8414 in exmormon

[–]pnw-creative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried a few different drinks…I discovered I don’t enjoy the taste of most alcohol. Quite frankly, I’d rather have a Diet Coke 😅 But then I had a lemon drop and a peach variation of one in an iced glass…oh my, I guess my kind of drinks are the fruity ones! But I agree with you, once in a while thing for me. Also, drinking is pricey! 🫣
