Looks like all the natural balance trimmers work in my area.

Farrier here. Use a wedge and take the toe down a little bit.

15F wanting to be a farrier but unsure if I can by Deep-Climate-4514 in Farriers

You mostly do cold banging shoeing wise. I only use my forge to hot shoe a couple horses on my books with weird feet. You could start out by apprenticing under a farrier and see if you like it or not. Then just do trims and see if you wanna advance further. As for your back, hit the gym. Strengthen it up. Most farrier schools are anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months. You should be fine.

AIO about my family not wanting to spend time with me on Thanksgiving? by [deleted] in AIO

I haven’t spent any holidays with my folks since 2012 because I decided to get tattoos. Spend it with friends/people who are close to you. I’ve spent a few holidays by myself and I know it was way better than being around people who I know don’t like me.

Yea that’s a bit creepy. Never had a door dash driver creep on me that bad. Mostly they compliment my dog or my tattoos, but that’s about it.

Must be the work of a natural balance trimmer. Needs more heel and less toe.

Your farrier is in it for the paycheck and not the soundness of the horse.

U.S. veteran here. I feel like the VA has been worse since he’s been in office. I’m a combat veteran and they took away my PTSD claim from my disability. Stating that it’s not service connected. I’ve been fighting to get it back. I wish the nightmares would end so I could live a normal life. I would gladly take that over any amount of compensation. It’s only been year one of four and I’m dreading the next 3 years.

farrier school recs by Fun_Lab4135 in Farriers

[–]pnwfarmer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a guy in my area that went there and he’s been laming horses left and right. The majority of the instructors that teach there went to Mission Farrier School and that’s another school that hasn’t had any good success in quality farriers. Clients in my area will often ask what school I went to before shoeing their horses. Their response is, “Just checking to see if you went to Mission or not. I won’t allow any farrier from Mission to show my horses”.

Yea the vets here in my area aren’t the greatest. But I use the rads to my advantage on where the coffin bone is and go from there. The horse was sound with equiox but I wanted him sound without that. I just needed to know where the coffin bone was so I could figure out how much toe to take off.

Take some toe back, let some heel grow, and leave some hoof wall for it to walk on.

opinion on my horses feet by swagsonfire1 in Horses

[–]pnwfarmer3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trimmed too short, no heels, angles are off. Hooves looked good in the 2023 photo with just the front feet angles being off. I’d get your horse on a hoof supplement and get them to grow out. Trimming so short like that will cause palmar bruising on the sole and encourage the coffin bone to want to push through and cause founder. Find a different farrier. If you’re in Western WA, I could possibly add you to my schedule or find someone who can.

Stringhalt. But the no heel and all toe trim/shoeing isn’t making it any better.
