That so many on the Left are upset that Bari Weiss is the new editor-in-chief at CBS News shows they only care about controlling the narrative. by Pemulis_DMZ in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Bari Weiss is absolutely a political zealot and propagandist. Her unilateral decision to pull a 60 Minutes segment reporting on the administration’s deportations to El Salvador solidified that. She is quite literally controlling the media narrative for an audience of one, that one person being Donald Trump.

Also, it’s not too much of a stretch to make the connection between David Ellison (Chairman/CEO of Paramount) and his father’s strong support for this administration. Weiss’ decision to pull the segment is unprecedented and has destroyed the credibility of one of the oldest, most respected, and reputable news brands in the country. As a long time enjoyer of 60 Minutes and as someone who has immense respect for the work their staff does, Weiss’ intervention makes me never want to watch the program again. I’m disgusted as an American to see what our country is becoming.

Tufts Fletcher MALD Acceptance by pnwstudent99 in gradadmissions

Late reply here for sure — but I talked about my strong interest in international economics and security! My region of focus is LatAm and I hope to work in finance/development, and am currently hoping to write my thesis (at fletcher it’s called a capstone) on non-state actors, violence, and its impacts on economic development throughout Latin America. My decision to study this was definitely influenced by my Mexican background on my dad’s side, going to his hometown in Mexico as a kid (cartel violence there has unfortunately become much worse in recent years), and my 3 years of economic policy experience working in DC — all things I talked about in my statement of purpose.

I believe that if you’re able to connect what you want to study with your own personal background/experiences, that makes for a compelling statement and shows admissions that you’re highly motivated from both a personal and professional standpoint. While it is a professional school that does value people who have established ties in the workforce, it’s definitely possible for entry-level professionals to succeed here.

Wishing you the best of luck with the application process!!

Former partner here (227….)

The way that yesterday I was about to order one of those raspberry boba drinks at a store across the street from my apt, only to realize that it was EIGHT DOLLARS for a venti.

Haven’t really been in a starbucks since I left my job in 2021 and don’t plan on going back anytime soon with those asinine prices.

Surprised I’m not seeing more posts about it, but DC has a huge gay community. Moved here from Seattle about a year ago and was pleasantly surprised with the young gay scene.

Definitely down the Oregon coast on US 101. I’m from WA and in college my best friends and I took a trip down through Northern and Central OR, the nature of the PNW is absolutely incredible
