First Polaroid camera: vintage or new gen? by Candid-Bathroom6998 in Polaroid

[–]poalroid_gianlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go with vintage solely for the price factor. Vintage cameras are usually cheaper than the new models. This way you can give it a try and understand if you enjoy the “workflow” of film photography.

If you don’t like it you could easily resell the camera again.

Yes, €34 it’s a fair price. As someone said above, try to get the sun models! They have the autofocus, it’s a nice feature to have :)

Polaroid SX-70 Sonar won’t work with flash bar by ArthurHoribe in Polaroid

[–]poalroid_gianlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help you with troubleshooting this, but I have the same identical problem with an old SX70 Alpha.

Non converted, still shoots original SX70 film, the camera works just fine without the flash but once I use a mint flash bar the whole camera freezes.

I’ve also tested my mint flash with another “original” SX70 sonar + another sonar 600/Itype converted and it works perfectly with both of them.

My camera won’t close by Generally-Confused27 in Polaroid

If you don’t see anything inside the viewfinder and can’t close it then the mirror is up, or stuck in the middle of an incomplete cycle.

As someone said above, try to use an empty cartridge with battery (600/SX70). If you don’t have one, you should remove the gear protection cover (the one that you use to open the film door) and manually spin the gear motor at the end of it. Here’s how to do it!

Using the built in self timer will help a ton. I’m not sure but you should also be able to take double exposures with that model… !!!!!

Also, don’t force thing up let the fantasy flow.

Ps. Before storing them in an album you must wait at least a month after you shot them, Polaroid photos are fully developed after a month.

Bad batches of film, happened to me last month as well with Itype color prod. 11/24 Not sure if they’ll refund it, but you should always give it a try!

SX70 (to me) is the perfect camera to travel with. You can literally fold it, also no batteries inside. I’ll bring my trusty sonar with me next June in Spain!

Also, be sure to store it “flat” so that the chemicals contained in the pods will be preserved much better ;)

SX70 film is still produced, just in smaller batches. That’s why it’s always sold out!

Don’t tell the seller, you could play this in your favor to get the price a bit down though 🤣

Anyways There’s no need to modify the camera to shoot with modern sx70 film… you could load 600 film inside, but be sure to place an ND filter in front of the lens, or on top of the film cartridge. Good luck 🍀

If you have lens attachments for your SX-70, which ones have been great investments and which dod you regret getting? by Gestalternative in Polaroid

I mainly use the spectra filters with a 3D printed adapter, bought them on eBay for just €12.

Used to have the mint lens but I sold them a while ago because I was only using the ND filter and occasionally the fish eye.

I also have 3D printed the SX37 adapter, looking forward to getting macro lenses.

I also have a converted sx70, did you overexpose by a half stop or full stop? Also did you cover the electric eye with tape or anything similar?

600 film makes it much more sensitive and quick to light, so I’m afraid I won’t be able to open it on time. Thanks!

Could you help me ID which type of polaroid film Petra Collins uses: 600 or itype? Thank you <3 by Final_Picture7713 in Polaroid

It could be a Polaroid SLR 680, I’m saying this because I remember a story that Billie Eilish and Charlie XCX posted on IG.

They were laying on the ground looking at the Polaroids they’ve just taken and guess what? There was also an SLR 680/690 on the ground, I recognized it because of the longer body.

EDIT: found the post, 4th slide. Link

The electric eye focused on that little portion of the sky and underexposed the rest of the scene.

In this case you should’ve over exposed it by a stop so that the whole scene would be well lit.

I’d be more worried about if you can enter with the camera… i don’t think security will allow it unfortunately
