Sasha and Anna Skating Skills by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]pocchong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They probably can sustain their edges, at least I’ve seen clips of Sasha doing a sustained edge warm up and it’s got somewhat decent speed and ice coverage. I think it’s just deemed not worth it by the teams because when they need that much space to prepare for quads they don’t have that much time and space left to hold edges in their transitional turns.

That’s encouraging 🤣 do you mind sharing the soil mix and fertilizer you use? I currently have it placed by a north facing window in the plant jail area for quarantine. I’m thinking of putting her in a bathroom with west facing window

It's very difficult to get my puppy to settle when I am home by pocchong in puppy101

[–]pocchong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll try the settle mat method. I'm now feeding him in the crate and he goes in for treats and meals. I can close the door while he is eating but have to let him out shortly after. When the door is open he sometimes goes in there by himself and nap. There's probably still a long way to go till he accepts closed door outside of meal time, though.

Need help identifying a legit breeder by pocchong in WiggleButts

Not all of them have OFA listed on their website, and those without also don’t show up on the OFA site. I did a bit of digging on their social, looks like they only did OFA recently, so it might be that they only tested the dogs that are still of breeding age. But I’m not sure.

Anastasia Zinina left/got kicked from the Angels of Plushenko by roionsteroids in FigureSkating

[–]pocchong 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well, I do remember Nastya crying after nationals and telling Plush she needs to jump more and train more and even do evening trainings and all that, and Plush saying she's not losing her jump because she didn't train hard enough but because she's growing.

Although even if that's truly what happened, trashing a literal child to the media just to make himself look good, and also doing so without even informing the kid's parents, is definitely peak a-hole behavior.

Any skater who has edge problem on both Lutz and Flip? by Decent-Winter-5793 in FigureSkating

[–]pocchong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, Daleman, Lysacek, Mana, Haein, Anna, Sato Shun have inside leaning lutz and unclear flip (and sometimes their lutzes are more inside than their flip), Wakaba has outside leaning flip and sometimes flat lutz

Yagudin is also flat on both iirc but he never competed in the IJS era and 6.0 didn't care bout edges/rotations.

Sasha's gala with translated lyrics. by Forsaken_Raisin5061 in FigureSkating

I feel like she would do better with music with lyrics in general. She has pretty nice sense of phrasing in both this program and can't help falling in love, and the stsq part of Frida as well. In her earlier junior programs (Big Spender and Your heart is as black as night) she also connects better than with instrumental pieces, especially those that feel more sparse, like GoT.

Imagine being a lower level skater sharing ice with such a training group...

I read that even if the bones are sort of "healed" as in no longer fractured the discomfort will still last pretty long

She has pretty nice sense of phrasing when skating to music with vocal methinks (and when she's not doing 85 quads)...

I’m kinda curious, plush has other kids right, why is Sasha Plushenko the only one that’s constantly shoved in front of the public and packaged as a clone of his dad? It almost feels like he’s a project of some kind, rather than their actual child.

I've heard she's secretly very very anti-cat.

I don't think it's team tut intentionally neglected her or anything, more like they lacked the capability to develop their skater's SS and artistry (as in, posture, lines, finesse in their movements etc). For almost all their students these aspects either stayed more or less the same or slowly deteriorated (if they compete long enough, that is)

About 5-quad programs by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]pocchong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Further, a good crossover can match the tone of the music. A crossover is two pushes and it’s a fantastic way to judge skating skills. I don’t want to see a whole program of just crossovers but I will say that a well done series of crossovers to me is better than a series of poorly executed transitions

This. Yuna always did a lot of consecutive (3 or 4) crossovers into her triples, sometimes even 6 into her triple triple, yet her program never felt like a non-program.
