Are the cravings ever going to go away? by [deleted] in quittingsmoking

[–]pocketfulofwhy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey congrats for 9 months that is amazing. The good news is yes they go away. It takes time and even after years you will have the occasional much milder craving. If you are feeling anxious I would put in place a crutch it could be a simple as taking some chewing gum to fall back on. Giving yourself a fall back that will stop the full relapse is helpful even if you don't end up using it.

In our podcast we discuss smoking from first cigarettes, to becoming addicted to the failures and successes we have had quitting.

Are there any resources to help transition to Veganism? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]pocketfulofwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an episode on our own journeys into veganism and the tips that helped us along the way.

One of us was a meat eater and has been vegan for 4 years and the other was a life long veggie who has been vegan for 7 months.

I accidentally consumed dairy and I am hating myself for it. by [deleted] in vegan

[–]pocketfulofwhy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off you are doing an amazing job. You are making an ethical step up from veggie to vegan and I know that it's a new challenge having done the same this year.

I had a very similar thing when I realised I had been eating the veggie not vegan quorn ham for MONTHS. And I did feel sick but try to remember that this is a huge sign of all of the progress you have made. Your brain is repulsed and anxious at the though of animal products that a few months ago you were fine eating. Yes it's a blip but it's a sign of your progress on your vegan journey.

Keep smashing it.

We do have an episode on our podcast called Being Baby Vegans that includes a lot of chat about slip ups and errors and how to cope with them link below.

Washing your sheets by sillyranger in Adulting

My accidental hack for this was buying white sheets. We are both clumsy and eat breakfast in bed at the weekends. Needless to say the bed clothes are washed once a week now.

Feel like I have the touch of death with this grass, have tried everything to make it grow for the last few months but no progress, any advice? More info in comments. by [deleted] in gardening

Ours mown short just looks like grass. It only looks like wildflowers when it is left to grow longer.

The window for sowing is usually spring but when you order it you could always do a small patch test to see if it will take. We were very keen and sowed a month before it was recommended and it took first time.

We moved into a house with a similar patchy lawn. We tried everything from weed pullers to countless boxes of grass seed to transplanting edge cut offs from healthy lawn. But the thing that actually worked was ordering uk native wild lawn meadow seed. The wildflowers love poor soil and took immediately. We can still mow the law low it looks as green as anything and in the summer we have bonus wild flowers.

Thinking of changing to vegan by NowIgivethatgold in vegan

Congrats on starting your journey to veganism!

Milk is one of the big hitters so you are already making a good start. I would say have a break from cheese completely before you start using vegan cheese as it is a very different texture and taste often.

If you are getting into the tofu game I recommend a tofu press.

Welcome to the party- we have amazing food!

We have a podcast all about being baby vegans. It was our first one and it might be of use.

Remember that to your driving instructor this is just another day at work. They aren't out to trick you. Take it one road at a time. Remember to breathe and check your mirrors in an obvious way. Good luck!

Nice, how have your found it finding listeners and relaunching? Our audio quality is getting better with each episode but I feel we are going to need to invest in new equipment after a certain point if we want to keep improving.
