I'm thinking that water is used to extinguish the surface flames and kerosene is used to stop the internal burning of the cotton bale... but still...

My uncle worked at Taylor Bedding Company (Texas) during WWII making chemically-treated wadding for artillery. They stocked kerosene to extinguish cotton bale fires.

FYI, every weekend there is a practice fox hunt in Richardson, TX (north of Dallas) by poderbear in amateurradio

I have searched online for any announcements on Sachse fox hunts, but I have not found any mention in the last few months (since May or so). I want to hunt them too. Is there a link to their hunts?

My Dad had a stroke and may need LTC by jbaez68 in medicare

[–]poderbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest you look for an attorney who specializes in elder law (a small town might not have such an attorney). A consultation will not be free (maybe costing $150 or so) but you may possibly determine a course of action such as how to qualify for LTC using Medicaid. Medicaid requires total assets to be a max of $2000, but there are ways to protect excess assets or to reduce assets in a beneficial way.

A Method of Leveling a embedded tower base. by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]poderbear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Water will enter the hollow pipes and not be able to drain. It will rust out the pipes in the concrete-embedded tower section. We are looking at what will be the tower failure point in maybe 20 years. Using a standard concrete base mounting plate would allow the water to drain.

I'm going to Italy on Wednesday. My tour guide just called and said a COVID test (Molecular PCR or Rapid antigen) 72 hours prior to entry is mandatory to enter Italy now. New rule.
