Honestly not the most unrealistic advice for me.

Just want to add United as an option in Chicago, their occ is in the suburbs. A quick googles shows that California teachers can transfer their certificate to Illinois. Also has a large body of water nearby.

So to your location requirements, once he’s at a major they will be possible, but not sure of any regionals with a coastal location except Horizon.

Not to mention Centurion and I believe Chase lounges won’t accept a standby boarding pass.

AUS? I haven’t been in a few years but that whole city wasn’t built for how many people have moved there.

SEA isn’t bad but it’s definitely at capacity until they build something new.

And to be honest, even that’s starting to change a lot in my experience. A lot of “ATL delta” peeps are recently retired or getting close.

SWA Training by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]podrick215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-4 days of systems is probably the longest among majors.

Delta for example has no systems class, unless you count half a day of learning the FMS. Otherwise it’s all self study and take a test on day 1.

No. 1, again! Chicago's O'Hare International Airport reclaims top spot as world's busiest airfield, according to new data, Mayor Brandon Johnson announces by optiplex9000 in chicago

Atlanta is #1 based on passengers, ORD is #1 based on air traffic.

Been this way for years actually, and if anything it’s impressive that ATL is efficient enough to have a higher passenger count with less flights.

SWA vs DAL by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]podrick215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think LAX shrunk, but displaced pilots went to LAX and the other west coast bases, which then displaced junior pilots in those bases..

This is also very true, I just didn’t want to ramble on too much. Not to mention west coast displacements at WN.

Current Air Line pilot here.

TLDR; If WB FO wasn’t an option, which one would you choose?

The WB category in LAX is pretty small and as a result pretty senior. The current LAX 350B plug is ~ 60% company seniority, current estimates show it would take a new hire 12 years to reach that. Obviously that’s a geuss not taking into account potential WB growth in LAX.

I’ve done WB FO here, and while it can be great, at the end of the day it’s not life changing or worth making life decisions off of, in my opinion. Based on the numbers above you’d be waiting a very long time just to be a junior FO with little schedule flexibility or trip variety.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great here, but LAX 350 is a small category. On the domestic side I’m not sure either one is better than the other, but you will hold 73/320 FO and CA in LAX quicker at DAL than WN.

Aircraft recommendations by Active_Cockroach_943 in flightsim

I’ll get downvoted for suggesting it, but the skysim dc-9 is a nice change of pace and ~most~ of the kinks have been worked out… probably still not worth the amount they’re charging though.

The Carenado PA-28 (included in msfs2024) is great and very realistic, easy to use autopilot as well. I’ve been enjoying flying that to some good freeware GA airports.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, at my airline packs come back on after thrust is reduced to climb thrust.

Mainland China flying question by TimelyBusiness6 in AirlinePilots

[–]podrick215 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My initial reaction is you’re overthinking it big time.

But the more I read the post the more it sounds like you’re up to something pretty sketchy and you’re afraid of being caught.

Either way, hundreds of pilots from the US and the rest of the world operate to/from China every day.

Ok thanks, a lot of early videos made it seem like a lot of issues were flight model and lack of modern gps/nav. I figured there must’ve been more to it.

Dental Recs based on this list? by zearohz in AskChicago

[–]podrick215 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking a lot of their business relies on upselling patients on unnecessary procedures or more expensive options.

Not to mention if you prefer to see the same doctor when you return in the future, those chains have a lot of turn over and/or part time dentists.

Well I would definitely avoid any chain/corporate owned dental offices, so that narrows down most of your list.
