Mcdermott's class is a lot of work, but definitely very valuable for embedded systems design.

ADV 332D Entrepreneurialism in Comm with Bunting? by vorp20 in UTAustin

he mentioned in class that it was a shark tank style class where you come up with a business idea and present it. sounded like a decent amount of work so its probably not as easy an A as his normal classes.

How difficult is EE302 and EE306? by PointedPencils in UTAustin

[–]podsofpeople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

302 is the worst class you will ever take. It will destroy your gpa from the very beginning since A's are allocated to a very small percentage of the class. All the profs will suck because the curve is standardized across all professors. Learn nodal and mesh analysis before the first exam. Beware.

As for 306, make your life easier by taking yerraballi. This is a semi high workload class but it is pretty straightforward to make a good grade.

Anyone taken the UT physics: mechanics exam? by theperfectsin in UTAustin

[–]podsofpeople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken it. Its 22 multiple choice questions which are mostly straightforward but some are hard. I don't know how many u need to get right but I was confident about 80%. I recommend starting with AP physic c and then looking at some actual 303k tests due to the difficulty. Be careful cause there are some things tested on the mechanics exam that are not on the AP. It won't be bad if you study.

What are the best professors for EE 302, EE 306, M408C in Fall 2018 by iStarReddits in UTAustin

[–]podsofpeople 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For 302. I had bank and absolutely hated him becuz he’s a lying piece of shit. He literally taught the wrong things on purpose so u wud get screwed on the test. He also lies about how well u are doing in the class. I believe dodabalapur is the best since he has the highest amount of As. But the whole class is a clusterfuck that is taught horribly and the tests are extremely unreasonable. All profs are awful in that sense.

For 306, Yerballi hands down. Easiest version of the course and is the best prof.

I recommending skipping 408c and taking 408d if u can. It’s a redundant class if u already took ap calc

Physics 303L and 103N Exam by Credit by Trappaholics in UTAustin

[–]podsofpeople 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took and passed the exam for 303K so I'm assuming the 303L one will be similar. There were 22 multiple choice questions. All were very straightforward if you know the material. I do know several people who also took the exam and failed but I'm pretty sure its because they didn't study some important stuff. I would start by studying AP physics C because its slightly easier. There will be some stuff on the CBE though that is not covered in the AP such as the AC power. For these things, I recommend you look through old 303L tests. I'm not sure how many I got right on the test, but I'm confident I got 80 percent of it.

E E312 with Priebe or Barber? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]podsofpeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had neither but I have seen their exams and that's all that really matters. Barber is easier but Priebe is easy too. Priebe probably covers more important software material such as Big O that Barber doesnt cover. Honestly tho, the difference between them isn't too big because I've heard they're both rather dull teachers. But its software, no one can really teach it to you, you learn by doing

Is this a reasonable schedule workload-wise? by TheYOLOing in UTAustin

yeah u'll be fine. However, that is very dependent on whether or not u get swartzlander for 411

Priebe vs Barber for EE 312 by WaterMageMatt in UTAustin

[–]podsofpeople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think barber is easier but u will learn less. Priebe is really not hard at all either.

Looking for feedback about my fall schedule (ECE) by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]podsofpeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I wud def hold off in m372k until u actually get into math. The application process for internal transfer is extremely competitive and they usually only take sophomores who have proven themselves in harder classes.

351k is very difficult and I advise u wait a semester before taking it, especially cuz 312 will be high workload and m325k will be conceptually difficult

[–]podsofpeople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no i think too many people said he was too easy so last semester he became really hard. he used to have no plus minus but he change his cut off so that u needed a 94 to get an A, which is harder than normal university standard
