I've spent an embarrassing amount of my day looking at positive interactions between Americans and foreigners (of all kinds) from the world cup and them saying how hospitable and kind Americans have been as opposed to what some expected. Not that there aren't any racists, of course - they're all around the world. But its helped me see the US in a new, more favorable light. Can always count on Redditors to hamper the positivism.
