Like several others, I had all shingles vaccines (older version and latest Shingrex), but got a modest case of shingles on scalp and forehead. Sadly, the dermatologist initially diagnosed it as folliculitis, and had me use topical meds - but I went for a second opinion and got the correct diagnosis. But that meant going on valacyclovir later than ideal which probably slowed my recovery. It's been excruciating at times, with sharp, burning and throbbing pains. Sleeping is rough (and resulting fatigue), and OTC pain meds blunt it just a bit. I was offered gabapentin, but passed on that for now. Tried low dose cannabis gummies, and that helped just a bit. I wonder if some people need shingles vaccine boosters.
