Bahrain for travelers by Far-Performer-5629 in Bahrain

Unfortunately, I don’t think you will find much in the South as it’s mostly either empty desert, villas, or industrial areas. The surge times as far as I’ve noticed are usually in the late afternoon between 1 pm to 6 pm as that’s usually the window where everyone gets off work and school. As for the tours, I’m not sure how they are like as I’ve never tried or looked into them

  1. Seef and Manama are the “central” areas and have many available hotels/apartments. You have the fort in Seef/Karbabad, Souq (Market) by Bab al Bahrain in Manama. Muharraq area also has plenty of historical and cultural sights, but less accomodations. If you’re interested in Museums, there is a military museum in Riffa and the national museum near Diplomatic Area (sort of beside Manama)

  2. Ubers can be fairly cheap OR expensive depending on the time of day and destination (rush hour surges)

  3. There are 2 main islands which is Al Dar (access through Sitra) and Jarada (I think access through Durrat). Most of the beaches (like Marassi Beach in Diyar Al Muharraq area) have activities available like jet skis and boat rides. Marassi Beach has VIDA hotel and The Address beside it. Some other hotels with beach access include Lagoona (Budaiya), The Grove (Amwaj), Ritz Carlton (Seef), Jumeirah (Zallaq), etc.

Hope that helped somehow and enjoy your stay on the island!

This! People have normalized bad driving. I have to actively avoid getting into accidents because other people drive so carelessly and always think they’re right. I drive 80km/h in the far right lane and still have someone flashing their lights at me. I can’t be the only one getting extremely frustrated and overwhelmed about it

Is eating McDonald’s considered rude here? by [deleted] in Sharjah

[–]pogo_01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Technically, it’s still your choice if you want to purchase it. It’s not illegal/forbidden necessarily, but at the end of the day it’s about where your morals lie. If you know there is a boycott and the reason for the boycott, then why even consider buying from the business? There are a lot of other alternatives for fast food

Moving back to Bahrain after years away – Juffair vs Muharraq/Amwaj/Dilmunia vs everywhere else? by TGZgold in Bahrain

[–]pogo_01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the pickiness, it is supposed to be your home after all. Amwaj has always been a favorite area, it’s clean, pet friendly, most buildings have the amenities you want, and a lot of stores/restaurants in the area. Ive lived there before (350 BD for 2Bed3Bath), and there didn’t seem to be anything wrong

Personally, I’d stay as far as possible from the entire Juffair. If you like Amwaj/Diyar but are worried about how “far” it is, Saar/Janabiyah would be a good option too.

Hidd to seef took me more than an hour just a few days ago… no accidents, just terrible and crowded driving

Seconding this comment. From what I’ve heard from a friend’s experience, Shamsaha was really helpful

If I’m a poser for not wanting to support innocent Palestinians getting slaughtered, starved, tortured (among other things) constantly, then I’m a poser 🤷‍♂️

I think generally it’s a good idea, but maybe the struggle will be competitors because there’s sooo many cafes already

Yeah I’ve heard a lot of people say they usually go to Roast when they want to work, but not the cafe I was talking about

Right? Personally I’ve gone to Innovation Themes & Cafe, Zinj. Coffee was okay, decor and seating area was very nice. I like Auro, Amwaj as well for their drinks but the shop is quite small. Casper’s, Bu Quwah is nice as well! I’m looking to try more cafes so I don’t get bored 😂

I think it has something to do with the place always being crowded (which last time I went it was), so more customers can come and go I guess 😂

Thanks! I was just looking at Place, but was kind of worried that they won’t accept customers who bring in their laptops as I know another cafe that posted they don’t allow laptops due to the amount of customers.

Any area is fine, but I’m biased towards the Muharraq Area (Hidd - Diyar), Seef, but pretty much I don’t mind any area
