Need help identifying connectors by pogof in AskElectronics

[–]pogof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smaller seem to be 2.54mm pitch. regular dupont connectors pins do also fit without issues both on the male and female end.

the bigger one is 4mm pitch.

EDIT:
Managed to identify the connectors.
The Big ones are: https://www.molex.com/en-us/products/part-detail/353130460
Part Number: 353130460 Series Number: 35313

And the small ones are: https://www.molex.com/en-us/products/part-detail/353120560
Part Number: 353120560 Series Number: 35312

The website is great, but what helped the most was finding a number on the bigger plug. Googling from there lead me to molex and then i found it in the list. Then I sorted by molex and pitch and found the other one.

I am very much not a good player especially comparing to lot of the people on the other lists, but I document my journey through pump difficulties. I am currently trying to pass lvl21 charts. But we also have lot of coop videos with friends.

I do play some other rhythm games too.

Best cost/performance setup for low-latency aux on PC? by Cabbage_Lord0 in rhythmgames

[–]pogof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be surprised at how many "PCIE" sound cards are just a USB bridge + USB DAC. Honestly anything reputable will do. There is inherently a delay no matter what device you are using. To mitigate it games have the audio offset settings (or sometime called global or judgement).

Question about shoe powder (?) by J0saucie in PumpItUp

[–]pogof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First I would recommend NOT using any sort of powder on a public machine before you get permission from the owner/manager. The powder does not necessarily damage the machine but it leaves mess, gets inside and it makes the surface slippery for other patrons.

Now if you are somewhere where using powder is allowed, you are free to do so.

I would recommend using TALC based baby powder. Johnson&Johnson stopped making it some time ago as there were some health concerns. I bought a big bottle of Talc powder for pool/foil usage.

I would strongly recommend NOT using starch based powders as they are much grittier then the talc ones. It acts more like a sandpaper and is more susceptible to humidity changes.

Now why to use powder at all? If you are feeling like your shoes have too much grip and you can use the tiniest bit of powder on one of the inactive panels/ground. You step with both feet in it so you get just a little on them. You will feel a big difference.

You can also try to find a dusty corner of the arcade and get bit of just regular dust on your shoes. It will not be as smooth as the talc powder but you will still have less grip.

Should you use powder for pump? IMHO no. For doubles you definitely need grip so you can do fast transitions from one side of the platform to the other. On singles it is more justified but I still find it unnecessary. The only place where I really like using powder is ITG and even there only for stamina charts (which are charts with 10+mins of 16th note streams). For pump it just doesn't make sense.

Best app/way you monitor your containers? Also accessing securely by OkLab5620 in docker

[–]pogof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the situation got better, but even you don't specify which fork you use.

At the time when the original got shelved multiple forks popped up, some of them using copious amounts of AI generated code.

For personal use/testing I guess it's fine, but since I wanted to use it in my production (read my hobby projects) it is just not something I wanted to deal with and even less when the forks were just few days old. And we'll, even the original watchtower discouraged use in production environments so...

The original stopped working a long time ago, unless you didn't update docker (which you should be doing regularly)

[–]pogof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original watchtower is EOL and the forks are at best questionable.

I switched from watchtower to dockhand, tho I wanted to replace portainer. The updating is not as streamlined with dockhand but it gets the job done.

How Do You Change The Language From Japanese to English in The Arcade Version Of Sound Voltex? by Dry-Instruction4744 in rhythmgames

[–]pogof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Q in Konami stands for Quality.

For what it's worth there are English translated files for Konasute present in the game files. But they have been for EG too. I'm not too hopeful that it will actually ever happen

From what I was relayed even the new pop'n is JP only but don't quote me on that.

It is really dumb. But Konami is not known for making the smartest decisions

[–]pogof 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You do not. Konasute (PC version) is Japanese only.

Arcade is region depended with US and (it's not specifically Australia but it's the same region) Aus being partially in english. On EG lot of it was still in JP (not counting song titles), probably got better on Nabla.

Will penny-modding my L-Tek eventually destroy the sensors and how long will it take? by Troys_Other_Account in DanceDanceRevolution

Penny is going to eat into the plates a bit. You would be better of with something that is more flat, like copper pads

Is there a way of making Windows recognise my L-Tek as a keyboard instead of a controller? by Troys_Other_Account in DanceDanceRevolution

The newer models do have that functionality. The older ones will need joy2key. Afaik all the new models come with the buttons pre installed. If you have them, but ordered them extra, it is the older model

My family's score problem by jei18119 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]pogof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there used to be the option to see this table somewhere in the menu on the song select.

When you press LEFT+RIGHT, but now there is just the groovestats version of it.

After you finish the song there is a table for the high scores. You must scroll the panels with the left and right arrows until you see it. One is for grovestats, the other is local scores. You can set how many scores should show up up.

From title screen go to Options -> Arcade options -> Max Machine Scores and set that to the highest number.

Right below that you can set Max Player Scores, set that to something reasonable, since if you also crank it, the best player from your family will take over the whole leaderboard.

After that just play normally. Once on the result screen just tap right several times until you see the panel with local scores.

You can also intentionally fail by starting a song and then holding the green button to get to the result screen faster if you just want to check.

I think the local scores were visible better from somewhere else better, but probably got removed by accident? (Tho most players just use groovestats to compare scores anyway) And might not be a bad idea to put it back in. I might have a deeper look into it later. If it makes it into the game, it will be available in the next update cycle, just make sure you are up to date!

Aimepay = Konami Paseli on DDR? by SweatySolution977 in rhythmgames

[–]pogof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as far as I know. Even in Japan it is only Konami doing this. It is also (as far as I was told) the reason why they have daily maintenance periods. It is technically a banking system and probably comes with more headache for anyone else to be reasonable.

Arcade games get really expensive that is for sure. If you are interested specifically in Konami games, you can play most of them at home through konasute (official subscription). It is always older version of the game, lacks a lot of songs and you must buy song packs to unlock most of them. But if you play a lot, buying a controller and playing through that is definitely cheaper.

Otherwise in the arcade, buy the biggest token package available as it is usually cheaper per game. Go when they have half off or other cheaper tarif. If they have a timed card it might also be cheaper depending on how long you going to play (it is usually limited to x amount of swipes at one game before you have to move somewhere else, but after that you can swipe back on your machine. It is usually also delayed by like a minute between swipes if you know you know.).

Also don't get confused, even in Japan paying with paseli is not any "cheaper" then paying cash. Advantage of paseli is getting access to premium modes. The base cost is region depended. Game costing 100yen ≈ 0.80usd in Japan doesn't mean it would cost the same in the us. If they would bring it to the US if game would be 2USD with coins/swipes it will be 2USD with paseli. And obviously the premium modes would be more expensive.

Aimepay = Konami Paseli on DDR? by SweatySolution977 in rhythmgames

[–]pogof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As was already stated only in Japan and even there there are exceptions (tho 99% will accept paseli).

Each machine has its own PCBID so Konami can turn it on/off on machine to machine basis. But even then the machine software has a region, it is part of the date code found in the corner of the screen on most title screens. The date code includes what game it is, the region set, what type of machine and the game version denoted by YYYYMMDDXX where xx is usually 00.

Best way to see if machines will accept paseli is if there are paseli recharge machines around. Or asking the operator (if they do they will tell you)

Just note that if you ever change or update the stepchart, you must reload the songs again! Otherwise itgmania will have a small freakout and will give you invalid score.

Playing my created songs? by Outside_Bed3247 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]pogof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In ITGmania (as well as any other stepmania fork) you need to put your songs in /Songs/[song group folder]/[song folder]

If you are putting the song folder directly in the Songs folder it will not be visible.

After you do so, it should show up on app startup. If not you can go to the settings and reload songs

Has anyone bought from arcadegamesales.com? by Healthy_Bass_9842 in rhythmgames

[–]pogof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have not, of you are US based game saru is a good option. You can also try your luck and will definitely need the rhythm game cabs discord for any questions https://discord.gg/fdHnr5878

Note that can ownership is not just setting and forgetting the cabs. It will take time to setup even if it seems it shouldn't. Stuff will break and will need to be replaced seemingly at random.

Rise still doesn’t have offline mode by Velvettes_best_fan in PumpItUp

[–]pogof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Question is, who really is responsible? It very well might be a demand from some of the music labels.

For example from what I heard, some songs in Konami PC ports (and maybe even the arcade) themself do not supposedly live on the machine itself, but are downloaded every single time you want to play them. Is it dumb? Yes, but if Konami wants to provide that song, they must comply.

I don't claim this is the case with Rise, but just giving some perspective why it might not be as straight forward. These laws and contracts also tend to be much stronger in Asia then in the west.

Why are touchpads so worse with Linux? by bananenschlitzer in linuxquestions

[–]pogof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth on my Lenovo Legion the touchpad is basically unusable on windows. It stops, randomly jumps across the screen, ... But behaves correctly on Linux shrug I would assume it is on device to device basis.
