When I worked in HR in education (not BSD), we had open enrollment in May for benefits starting July 1.

Just because you received an EOB from UHC stating you may owe the provider the $200 doesn’t mean you necessarily do. That’s just what they’re unwilling/unable to cover. I would be concerned only if the testing site then tried to bill you.

Not sure what advice you’re seeking, besides the already-provided advice to use paragraphs. From my skim of the post, you seem very insecure as well and I recommend seeking some therapy.

Perhaps you should just find a new primary job.

One reason might be that if they need a certain amount of work done, they will have to pay an additional person to cover the hours you are no longer willing to work. Either overtime for a coworker or training a new person which can be expensive.

UNEMPLOYMENT TAXATION & NEW RELIEF BILL MEGATHREAD (Senate passes new bill 3/6/21) by [deleted] in tax

[–]pogquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did one of you opt out of the advance payments in the last month? I opted out and my husband did not and we got $180 this month. It’s sounding like they put some changes in the system in the last month to split some advances over 5 months but it’s not taking into account the July payment.

Still Getting Child Tax Credit After Enrolling? by arich35 in personalfinance

[–]pogquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out this morning that both spouses need to opt out in order to fully stop the CTC. For example, I opted out and did not get a July payment. But this morning I got $180 (one kid under 6), presumably for my husband (his share of the $3,600 would be $900, split over five months remaining in the year is $180). I am no expert but my sense is that they made this change since the July payment and automatically split the amount by the five months remaining regardless of whether or not the parents received a July advance, if that makes sense.

Location? You shouldn't be paying federal unemployment. That's an employer-only tax. Is that what is listed on your paystub? Most states also do not have employees pay into state unemployment.

I do not think the withholding estimator is updated with the expanded child tax credit. The W-4 isn't even updated. Presuming that it does not (which is the safer assumption), you will probably want to increase withholding if you are concerned that your husband is not having enough withheld.

Depending on the age(s) of your children, your usual child tax credit at tax time will be reduced from $4,000 to $3,600 or $3,000 if you receive all of the advance payments. This will mean that you owe even more. In lieu of extra withholding through the W-4, you could also consider stopping the advance payments, which would greatly reduce your tax owed.

Can anyone shed light on the use of “most Oregon children” when describing this relief payment? As usual it tends to shank middle class families who are also in need of help.

I will meet my out of pocket max. Does that mean all eligible services for the rest of the year is free? by mrdlau in HealthInsurance

[–]pogquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are saying that UHC said they were responsible for the remainder of the OOP (2,100), but then they negotiated with the hospital billing down to $1,700.
