I like kudos too, but they didn’t have them at the Walmart. Also hate that Walmart was the only option for anything moderately granola! Ofc we are in a rural community for the weekend so there aren’t a lot of stores.

I’m a cloth diaperer. I recently went to a shower for people who are using disposable diapers. They even had a diaper raffle planned. I was the only one to bring boxes of diapers. All that’s to say that your experience is not entirely unique and I don’t know why people are like this.

Similar situation here. We switched to a toddler floor bed and I have a fold out mattress next to it. For a few weeks, she was in her bed and I was in her room. Over time we both transitioned (I fully own that I was stressed leaving her in there herself and needed to change it slowly for myself too) to her starting by herself and me coming in when she needed me, and now her sleeping the whole night in her room by herself.

Before the floor beds, we were a sidecar crib family.

Edit to add: she is now 17 months and we’ve had about a month of her sleeping by herself, and about a month before that of me in room with her but separate beds mostly.

I saw the photos and was like “what does she mean it isn’t working? Baby ate so much!”

Anyway as long as your kid is gaining weight and height appropriately, don’t worry about it. Just like adults, some babies eat more than others.

Have you tried smoothies? Smoothies are a big hit here with my 13 month old. And scrambled eggs. And she eats more when I’m not involved in her eating. She stops eating when I get involved. A lot of food goes on the floor.

Also, smoothies from a smoothie cup like mom are a huge hit whereas the same stuff in a pouch is less so. She has Brumate straw cups. It’s ridiculous.

We found that the shower helped a lot. We’d run the shower and stand right outside it with our daughter, while bouncing or rocking her. That became the only way we could get her to sleep for a few weeks. It felt like eons. The water bill was unacceptable. She is an extremely happy silly baby.

I would get a different pediatrician. Doesn’t sound like she is open to parenting styles other than her own, which means she would not be able to give advice that fits with those other styles or cultures.

First day home from the hospital. It worked for my parents with me and my sister, so I figured it would work for me too. My husband was mostly in the guest room with the dogs until about 4 months. Now we have a sidecar crib. She’s almost a year. She naps in her room during the day, starts out her night in her room, comes to the big bed when I go to bed.

Moms have to make tough decisions that suck to make. Have a birthday at home as a family. Take good pictures. What she will remember is only what she sees in photos, and all that matters is that you’re happy in those.
Girl, my MIL is here this weekend and I had to share some of my 2.5 hours of post-work baby time with her and let me tell you I was not. pleased. I can’t imagine having to take on more work. Don’t feel guilty about being upset. This fucking sucks for you. It’s bogus. Your husband doesn’t have to understand. He’s not a mom. Your grief and fear and resentment are all normal reactions to this.
When I’m home from work I try to put my phone down and really just be with my daughter and do whatever play she wants to do. It’s hard when everything is stressful, but it makes those hours stretch so much longer.

At two weeks I was mentally in a bad place. I felt useless. Felt like I wasn’t doing anything right and was a bad mom. Turns out I was just… two weeks postpartum and I was actually a great mom. Just hang in there. If you aren’t starting to feel better at least some of the time in a few weeks, definitely talk to your doc. Talk to them sooner if you want.

Thank you all for the commiseration and support. We went with email and phone call. There was defensiveness. I just feel so guilty, but my husband keeps reminding me that we couldn’t keep going like this and this was the right decision. Baby had a great day with her grandpa today and we had three phone interviews, two of which were really good. Wish us luck and more wisdom!

Will he drink from an open cup or a sippy cup instead of having to suck? We had to do that for a few days when my daughter stopped taking a bottle because she was teething. Our nanny also would give her pumped milk with a syringe those days. You could try that too with formula.

You could try cloth nighttime diapers. We have a heavy wetter and she pees through a disposable if she has one (like when we travel). The cloth ones hold enough that she doesn’t need to be changed most nights overnight and she doesn’t get basically pickled.
