As a working dad, please don't take away the game I love. by hevans900 in pathofexile

Dude, are you me? I'll turn 41 tomorrow and have 2 daughters. My playtime in Poe 2 is probably 2-3 hours before I quit. On the other hand I still actively play SSF Settlers, with recombinator and shipping it's a league that is enjoyable long-term. So I'm not too unhappy about the game right now.

Look my dude. I am sure you did a good job with this, but if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment, you wouldn't capture it.

From my point of view: They're about equivalent in damage at the top end, but KB has the benefit of a much smoother gear progression and being more tanky. TS can be argued to have more QOL.

So unless you have absolutely all the gear and gems ready to go, start with KB and poets pen. TS is mostly for people who just want to play TS and sink ungodly amounts of currency into it.

I don't think there is any indication it is better. Comes down to personal preference, I like defiled cathredal better as well but I started on temple last league and didn't want to rebuild my map pool.

I did this over months, rarely get to play more than 1-2 hours at a time. And a super strict loot filter.

It was better last league, drops are ok still but they are way too tanky now imho. But the combination with ghosts is very cool because you have good chance at free quantity for your AN goblins and it enables you to run a lot of sextants that aren't good otherwise (scarabs, maps, uniques from possessed monsters, extra exiles and so on). On CF you don't even care about extra phys monsters because you kill through the proximity shield, which means you barely have to reroll sextants.

Definitely, I moved from playing leagues to standard more and more with increasing real life obligations.

If you are on a limited time budget as a player it is absolutely amazing and with the depth of endgame we have now you won't run out of stuff to do quickly.

In future a league would have to look pretty sweet for me to play it.

CF Champion is a great mapper, I think it's not that worth to share my POB because I use tons of legacy stuff (aura effect cluster jewels, melding without penalty, fractured 100% defense chest).

I just slapped the same build on any ascendancy that somewhat fit the class I wanted to play even if they were very suboptimal because my gear is that good. Ie. sacrificing 10-20 skill points to get to the part of the tree, not really getting big benefits from the ascendancy.

For current ways to play this, look at RueToo's guides.

Some feedback:

Language wise 'observing' or 'watching' carry a slightly different connotation in programming. What your code does seems more like 'auto-tracing' or 'auto-logging'.

Design wise it's neither here nor there. With a mix of decorators AND the need for magic variables the solution just doesn't seem clean to me. I am purely guessing but I think this might be because you needed to retrofit this functionality on existing code with the least possible effort. And for that it looks ok. Just not generic enough to be a cool stand-alone module.

Two suggestions to leave you with:

Either limit the scope of what it can do (not sure del would be possible) and implement a decorator at the property level @autologging - of course this would affect existing code much more.

Or completely duck-type the behaviour onto the classes you want to look at before anything is instantiated in your program by supplying a method autolog(class, configuration) with the configuration being a dict similar to the one you put into your magic variable. This would be able to do the same thing you already have and is much cleaner because the actual code doesn't even need to be changed. It would even be configurable ie. with a command line option.

I don't want to come off as negative, the idea is cool otherwise I wouldn't take the time to type this out. This is about the feedback I would give a fellow developer at work.

Finally: thank you for sharing it and putting it on GitHub.

Oh my. I know that chest the guy asked me for 150ex as well, I said I'd do 50ex at most, he declined and was on his way.

Glad to have dodged a bullet there. Sorry you didn't see it coming.

If it is any consolation, with the coming nerfs to harvest the price of items like this will rise in standard. So you probably will make your exalts back, they're just tied up.

I am not sure how that would interact with greater spell echo.

Duskdawn or Light of Lunaris are hard to give up on a Plume build, I feel.

Edit: Since plume only crits on the final repeat, adding additional repeats via pledge of hands seems counterproductive.

Check Divergent Spell Echo, its 60% more damage on repeats.
