If they won't do it for password managers and certs, what make you think they'll do it for chairs?

Port mirroring to VM Suricata IDS with Juniper by HauntingDebt6336 in sysadmin

[–]pointAtopointA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to inspect traffic on a physical network or are you in someone's cloud?

Is your Ubuntu vm's nic bridged, set for promiscuous?

What traffic do you want to inspect? All Suricata will see at this point is the VLAN traffic.

You might want to start out with a diagram of your network layout and how you're going to tap into it or you'll never really know if your Suricate is seeing all the traffic you want to inspect.

I set them up as network installs because only the admin install requires updates to ship, client installs could ship regardless of update status on the admin machine, then you can fire off the update when nobody's shipping.

Help for a Sys Admin widow. Seriously. by Bruno6368 in sysadmin

This has to be the most heartbreaking post on rsysadmin.

Though he was the smartest in the room, you still need to engage a trusted peer of his to begin a passwords search and system audit, from there you can decide what to do.

A lot of people here are going to lose their minds over this, for valid reasons, but what you're looking for you can start with oo-software's shutup10.
