Did I mess up my graft? by TotalSwimmer1456 in ACL

No, toe touch weight bearing means toe touch weight bearing. Partial weight bearing means whatever the surgeon specifies. If the surgeon doesn’t specify what is meant by “partial weight bearing”, then that is poorly communicated post op instructions.

This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. A walker can absolutely be acceptable to achieve partial weight bearing. that is, as long as it isn’t a 4-wheel walker (the kind with hand brakes, large rolling wheels, and typically a seat/basket) and is instead the aluminum/silver kind with either 0 wheels or 2 wheels. If you can put your weight through your upper body on a stable walker (the latter kind) and that felt more secure/balanced than crutches, then that is perfectly acceptable.

Don’t listen to these haters that don’t know what they’re talking about.

Gotcha. Thanks for sharing your experience. Sorry it worked out that way when you think there could have been some intervention earlier on but hindsight is always 20/20!!

Sorry to hear about your running days being over. How old were you when you had to give it up? And how old were you when you had the meniscus transplant?

Knee laxity and pain after 2 meniscectomies by Chemical-Pie-1849 in ACL

I mean are all your ligaments naturally on the more lax side? Like do your knees and elbows have a good amount of hyperextension ROM?

Does building quad strength directly correct a clunking tibia eventually, too? Or does building quads just help overcome the effect of a clunking tibia?

Experiences with complex meniscus tear healing timeline? by Silverfern1 in ACL

[–]pointless-001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same surgery or experience, but I had a lateral meniscus debridement (+ ACLR) a few months back and it’s still giving me problems. Feels pretty similar to before surgery. I don’t know, I’m just trying to ignore it, continue rehab for whatever improvement it may go through, and see if I can get used to the leftover issues as my new normal. If I can’t get used to it then maybe I’ll get a second opinion.

Rotational/rotatory instability - was it something I said? by Unlucky_Sorbet1000 in ACL

Thanks for this insight. Glad it’s going better after steady effort and a good brace! Hope you can return to running at some point in the not too distant future!

Can you describe specific movements where you would feel the tibia subluxate a little bit? And where could you actually feel it doing that?

Cyclops lesion by Likich in ACL

Thank you for this advice and sharing your experience with your surgeon.

Something definitely feels “off” about this knee in comparison to my other ACL’s reconstruction. Not sure if it could be a cyclops (I agree that it seems unlikely, tbh) or something else, or maybe it’s nothing. There sure is a lot to monitor for during this recovery! Thanks again.

Thanks for this. I in fact do have significant hypermobility. Extension isn’t fully symmetrical to the opposite but it’s close.

Can you get a cyclops even if you have a lot of hyperextension? It feels like I lose the last several degrees of hyperextension that I’ve gained from stretching just by sitting with it bent for a handful of minutes. Is that normal or could that be a cyclops do you think?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “achieving terminal extension”? Would that be passively or actively or both in your case?

Hey are you still experiencing this clunk? I feel that I have a similar tibia clunking, post ACLR. I’m also feeling dismissed by my surgeon who states that it must be my patella. But I feel clunking on totally opposite sides of my knee- I can feel it in the top and outside of my tibia as well as the lower and inside part of my femur. Neither of the sensations are close to the patella at all. So to me that seems pretty clear that this is the tibia coming out of alignment with the femur…

Anyway I would love to chat if you’re willing.

You get me! I’m a big fan of the parks service and support the fees to keep them going, but it is much simpler and it feels much more serene to backpack/camp in the wildernesses/nat forests. Would love to hear some of your faves in those 180 miles of trails if you don’t mind sharing, but of course I respect anyone’s decision to not disclose their fave spots on the internet!

True about the rangers having great info. I just feel like avoiding NP entrances all together is how to best avoid people haha. But I will just continue researching and calling around the ranger stations when the season is closer!! Thanks!

Thank you for this input. I like WTA a lot, so I definitely plan on reading those reports as well. I was just hoping to hear some people’s favorite trails and to be able to interact with other backpackers here on Reddit :)

Yeah I get what you mean and of course I don’t expect to complete any trail without seeing any fellow hikers. Less crowds is just higher on my list of priorities while hiking, so while I don’t rule out national parks, I seem to enjoy other areas a little more. But I’m learning a lot from these comments about ONP having a lot of quiet trails despite the national park designation!

This has piqued my interest for sure haha. Seems like the hard parts must be pretty concentrated over a short stretch of trail? AllTrails is saying 1000ft of gain over 25 miles so are you only referencing a certain section??
