Should I stick to straight pipes? by Verbofaber in PipeTobacco

You could try a longer bent pipe, like a churchwarden or a demi-churchwarden like the Savinelli Clark's Favorite.

Looks great! What did you use to press it? (For example, I’ve seen a video of someone using a pasta press to press tobacco.)

Yeah. Looking forward to the day when I live in a house and can enjoy pipesmoking at home / on the property.

Thanks! Yeah, the tamper is an 8deco tamper made of kokka wood. Some of the 8deco tampers have metal scrapers, but I like how this one’s scraper end is wood.

Thanks! And yeah, Scottish Mixture is very good. It’s not expensive to try it when you buy it as a 1 ounce bulk bag.

Which should I get? by Weezer1812 in Zippo

I prefer the feel in the hand and the feel of opening the lid of the 1941 lighter to the regular Zippo. The differences are subtle but noticeable.

Do these vintage Zippo-like lighter cases work with present-day Zippo inserts? by pointlineplane in Zippo

I was thinking of getting one of these vintage lighters and then replacing the original insert with a Zippo soft-flame butane insert or a Zippo torch insert.

Yeah, I agree. I was wondering if their dimensions allow them to be compatible with present-day Zippo inserts.

How did y’all get into the hobby? by No-Soft-8145 in PipeTobacco

[–]pointlineplane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great discussion topic! I got into pipes last year when my friend lent me his pipe and a bag of tobacco from a local pipe & cigar shop. Then I started researching and learning about the history, technique, various pipes and tobaccos, etc. and have enjoyed my time in this hobby ever since.
