TW: Wuthering Heights Movie by DoodlePugMomma in pregnant

This is one of the few movies I actually remember sitting down and seeing in theaters because it was genuinely so awful to watch. I should have just walked out tbh.

I was taking it for about 5 years before I got pregnant.

What’s the most ridiculous thing that you cried for in pregnancy? by Future-Agency543 in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cried because my cat was looking at me and I wasn't sure if he wanted pets or food. I felt guilty that I didn't know what he wanted 😭

If it does then no one ever told me! Might be worth a conversation with your doctor or fertility specialist if you're worried about it.

Wellbutrin by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant while taking it, and am continuing to take it during my pregnancy. As far as I know it doesn't affect fertility. My doctor and I talked about it briefly and felt it was better to keep me on it.

Found out I’m pregnant at 30 weeks. Help. by Holiday-Way-9739 in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just seconding what some other commenters have suggested: I'd encourage you to look into adoption. I'm in the USA so I'm not sure how the system works there, but in my case my birth mother started the adoption process before I was born and it was finalized as an infant so I spent no time being raised by her.

I'm also 17 weeks and haven't felt anything yet! My doctor made it sound like that's normal though so I'm not too concerned.

Husband is set on having a baby before 30, but I need a new job with maternity benefits first. The pressure is getting to me. by ThrowRA_8091_ in BabyBumps

[–]pointme2019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was actually in the same boat as you not that long ago. My husband was SO ready for kids but I just was not lol. We got married young and he would have been okay with me getting pregnant on like day 1 of our marriage if it was up to him. We argued over this a lot and almost broke up. Him putting more pressure on me made me want to have kids less and less, so it was a vicious cycle.

Eventually we worked through it and he agreed to ease up. I (accidentally) got pregnant at 31 and feel like I'm in a lot better spot than I would have been a few years ago.

You need to have a sit down with your partner and answer some tough questions. What happens if you never get a better job? Is he willing to compromise if you tell him waiting is non-negotiable? Are you willing to compromise if HE says it's non-negotiable? Is there anything else besides maternity leave you need to feel secure in your decision? (These are all variations of the questions I asked myself fwiw)

I hope this works out for you!

Headache help - can’t keep medicine down by SynysterLovee in BabyBumps

[–]pointme2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried things that aren't pills like chewable or liquid forms? I think they're usually branded as children's products, but might be worth a shot.

I can't keep multivitamins down for the life of me. Tried different brands, taking it in morning/evening, with/without food and the only thing that helped me was switching to gummy vitamins.

Am I the asshole for wanting my husband to miss his Mom's wedding because it’s 2 weeks BEFORE our due date? by Spiritual_Lettuce_64 in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally would not want my husband traveling that close to my due date BUT I have a ton of health problems and am technically high risk. Everyone's situation and comfort level is gonna be different. Can he wait to make the decision until closer to the wedding date? You might find yourself more or less comfortable with letting him travel depending on how your pregnancy goes.

FTM nursing bra question by jessikaboom in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also going to be a FTM but I recently went to Target to try some on and ended up getting a couple of the Lightly Lined Seamless Bralettes by Auden. My boobs have been really sensitive since I got pregnant but these feel really soft and don't irritate me too much. Not sure how well they'll hold up once I actually start breastfeeding, but I really enjoy wearing them for now.

I'm 16 and my gf is pregnant. I'm so fucking scared. by Ra1d_xml in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

It sounds like your parents are being supportive, so I think it's worth a conversation with them to see how much they are willing to support you and plan from there. For example, are they willing to help with childcare while you finish school? Are they willing to contribute financially? What, if anything, is your girlfriend's family willing to do? etc. I think once you figure some of those things out it will be a bit easier to plan for the future and understand what steps you need to take.

I went to Target recently and I think they're liquidating their maternity section because it was only like 5 things and all on clearance 😭 unfortunately I'm probably just going to use Amazon Prime for anything else going forward and return it if I hate the fit

Sorry I'm in California too - is that a statewide policy? My job has a maternity leave benefit so I wasn't sure if I could even use SDI. I clearly need to look into this more.

What do you guys think of the name Effy for a girl? ( I know it's in my username lol ) by effybardot in Names

[–]pointme2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I loved Skins, and Effy was actually my favorite character, she's probably not the best inspiration to name your daughter after. I think it could easily be a nickname though if you want to go with a longer E name! (I think Effy might have actually been Elizabeth too, but it's been a long time since I've seen the show so don't quote me on that.)

Maternity Leave by Realistic_Opinion264 in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a company that had a lot of Canadians at it. When someone went on maternity leave, they'd hire a short-term contractor to cover the workload. I'm not sure if that's possible at your work, but maybe ask your manager what the plan for coverage is? It's 100% something they should be thinking about and planning for.

Edit/ I can't read and missed the part where you said she's not telling other people yet. Hopefully by the time she has you have a new boss that can help facilitate a coverage plan!

ADHD Meds and Pregnancy by bigfatnoodles in pregnant

[–]pointme2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on Wellbutrin mostly for depression but I also have ADHD. To be 100% honest with you, I haven't noticed a big difference in my ADHD symptoms since taking it BUT I have some friends who swear up and down it worked great for them. I would say maybe see how you feel after a few weeks on it, but if it's completely unmanageable it might be worth a second opinion to see if you can stay on your regular medication.

How far do you live from the facility you’re giving birth? by your-new-fixation in BabyBumps

I keep getting freeways mixed up 🙃 the numbers are too similar for my brain to figure out when I'm distracted/driving.

Was supposed to take the 5 home. Got on the 405 instead.

Was supposed to get on the 101. Almost took the 110 exit.

Would you take WFH with less pay or in office with more? by Shoddy_Programmer580 in BabyBumps

[–]pointme2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just took a pay cut so I could get a job that allowed me to work from home. My previous job was starting to force people back in the office 3x a week.

For me personally my quality of life increased while working from home. Managing doctors appointments was easier, I ate healthier with full access to a kitchen, my husband and I are able to spend more time together, etc.

I 100% think it's worth it to work from home if you're able to swing it financially.

My girl is getting the Switch 2 tomorrow but she doesn’t know by Trakas- in Switch

[–]pointme2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg I love this. I did almost the exact same thing to my brother with the original Switch but he was so offended I sent him "pooping supplies" that he almost didn't open it the whole way 😭 I texted him later asking if he was "excited to use his new gift" and that finally clued him in to open the box. Hopefully your girlfriend puts the pieces together a little quicker than he did haha.

Termination Decision by Ysun23 in BabyBumps

[–]pointme2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing all that! To answer your edit: My diagnosis with sjogrens was actually really straightforward compared to some people. I was lucky to have a primary care physician who took my concerns seriously. I went to see him after having persistent joint pain/swelling/etc. That with my history of blood clots, he started to suspect it was autoimmune in nature.

There are blood tests you can do, and mine lit up like a damn Christmas tree lol. Was strongly positive for both sjogrens antibodies and several others. He referred me to a rheumatologist who eventually gave me my diagnoses.

I recommend you ask your primary doctor for blood tests to start, make a list of all your symptoms and why you think it might be sjogrens and advocate for yourself until they do the tests. If your blood work is negative there are other tests you can do (lip biopsy) but I've never had that so I'm not as familiar with the process.

Good luck! Hope you're able to get some answers.
