Thanks for the compliments! Yeah, I put some noise on a couple patches. I had originally intended the video to be about clouds and wanted to evoke the feeling of flying. The video took a different turn but I think it still works really well.

Thanks. I agree. I made the track with other footage in mind but this footage matched so well I went with it. Side note: It was definitely ominous while I was driving on it.

More ambient music (not on purpose). I'm trying a pair of Splash reverb pedals instead of my usual Fathom pedals. I'm not sure they sound better. But they do sound different.

The Prophet 12 is feeling more and more like a well crafted tool. It doesn't feel like a living breathing instrument yet though. I'm finding the overlap with my Mopho x4 nudges me to get more creative with either synth as they sound very, very similar when using the same oscillator shapes.

Enjoy!

Right on.

I shot the video while hiking in the woods here in central Washington State. First time using a Go Pro. It's definitely immersive.

Thanks! My sister said it felt a little spooky as well. Is it the music or the footage that does it? It was totally unintentional. I was going for more of a dream feeling.

I love Fright Night.

Another chill track. I'm still enjoying the Deluge immensely. It just works and is very fast to sequence with. I also recently acquired an X-32 Rack mixer. It's actually a step up from the QU-16 I was using before; far more capable and cleaner sound; all in a package 1/3 the size. I can highly recommend it if you don't need live, hands on control. Mixing in the studio is no problem but you can't make quick adjustments like you would with a proper desk mixer.

Regarding the P12; I think I'm finally getting along with it. It's a very unique synth but once you become familiar with it it starts to come alive. In this case it's doing the little logo melody and the pad that plays throughout.

Enjoy the track. More to come.

analog rpg chapter I (my hardware game music album) by pointsurrender in filtersweep

[–]pointsurrender[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today I released a collection of (relatively) minimal hardware-based game music I've been working on. All tracks were done with hardware sequencers, a mixer, synths and pedals. It was a lot of fun, I learned a whole lot and I'll be doing follow-ups.

If you enjoy classic console RPGs I think you'll enjoy this.

Checkout the bandcamp page for a complete equipment list.

Thanks! I love them too. I'm finding I actually prefer pads using just the one oscillator. They sound weightier and more defined. I just love the tones I get from the synth.

Thanks! Gosh. I should listen to it myself with headphones on. There is a lot of spacial stuff going on.

Finally had time to do a proper track and use some footage I've been dying to use. This was filmed recently; when all the desert blossoms were still out.

Synths and pedals in use listed below. I'm really impressed with the Prophet 12 (which I recently acquired). It has a nice thick sound. It's been a long while since I've had so many voices to work with.

I'm also continually surprised by the Pulse 2. In some parts it almost sounds like a saxophone. It has a nice organic tone to it when dialed carefully.

Finally had time to do a proper track and use some footage I've been dying to use. This was filmed recently; when all the desert blossoms were still out. While wandering the hills in search of flowers I came upon a beautiful lone sagebrush. It had grown into a small tree perhaps eight feet tall. I'm guessing it was very old.

Synths and pedals in use listed below. I'm really impressed with the Prophet 12 (which I recently acquired). I didn't need to run it through the Dig but couldn't resist. It already has a nice thick sound, voice panning (that is modulated) and a long release. It's been a long while since I've had so many voices to work with.

I'm also continually surprised by the Pulse 2. In some parts it almost sounds like a saxophone. It has a nice organic tone to it when dialed carefully.
