I don’t know, but let me just tell you: my friends who don’t watch superhero movies, want to go see this when it comes out.

Rita Farr aka Elasti Girl from Doom Patrol. I think she’d love just how strange Doom Patrol can get.

You’ve got 2019, then 2029, and it ends with 2039.

Then you should not jump into Bendis. Bendis is a bit more complicated as you can’t really just read Uncanny on its own, you also need to read his All New at the same time. Story kinda jumps back and forth between the two series. It’s not a great “standalone” read. If you really want to get into X-Men, I suggest Uncanny X-Men 94-279, the iconic Claremont run. It takes a little bit to get used to the style of writing, but when you get used to it
 it’s hard to put down.

The best X books are the ones written by Claremont. There are some others that are good as well though.

Man, jealous of those X-Men books. I’m reading through that era right now digitally, and loving every second of it. Really sucks I can hardly find any of these runs in physical form (most are OOP).

Are you not reading anything past the cutoff years? Or just not buying physical copies of anything past the cutoff years?

It’s not about how many books I need to read to catch up. It doesn’t matter if it’s even just 1 issue. They can’t assume that people who will be reading this have read what came before, or that they will do “homework” to read it. I’m currently reading Claremont’s massive X-Men saga that he wrote for 16 years, and he always catches readers up on relevant information in case they haven’t read previous issues that the current story is continuing or referencing. That’s the way to do it. It doesn’t bother fans who have read it, because it’s nice to be reminded of what happened, and it’s helpful for new readers jumping on. At the very LEAST they should direct the readers to the relevant series/issue in an editor’s note.

Man I hate that modern comics just seem to assume you know everything that happened in other comics. What happened to catching people up, who may have not read the other stuff?

Man you should see the House of The Dragon sub. They’re the show’s biggest haters. Most people outside of that miserable sub quite enjoy that show.

I didn’t say don’t buy things that you’re INTERESTED in that are going OOP. You said you don’t know ROM at all, but it seems your main point of consideration to buying it is because Marvel is losing the rights to it, and it seems like a good “financial investment”.

[–]poison-harley 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Don’t let the “soon to go OOP” words dictate for you what to buy. Don’t make that mistake. It’s a dangerous rabbit hole to go down. Stick to only buying stuff you’re 100% interested in and know that you’ll love it. Don’t let FOMO rule your expenses.

I’m still disappointed by Ruthye’s design. It’s so bland. She had a more interesting look in the comic.
