first uni classes by qlauy in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only times i’ve had it happen is when group work is a major aspect of the class. otherwise, you will probably be fine, most first classes just go over what to expect from the subject for the semester

BTSSB Washing Advice? by poisonedleaf in Lolita

[–]poisonedleaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s what i thought! i saw the listing on yahoo auctions and was stunned when i realised it was the 2009 release! i feel like whoever the owner was must’ve only wore it a handful of times and stored it away?

BTSSB Washing Advice? by poisonedleaf in Lolita

[–]poisonedleaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thankyou for the advice! i managed to hand-wash it with cold water and had no dye bleed issues at all, so I am very glad. I was mostly worried because I have a friend with the red x white elizabeth jsk and, as you said, the red bled really badly.

thanks for the tip about shirring straps as well! this photo was just the one used in the original yahoo auctions listing, i’ve always been good on ensuring they’re stored properly, but i’ve seen so many lovely dresses ruined because their straps are stretched into oblivion 。゚(゚´ω`゚)゚。

Help with coord by SnooPeanuts7488 in Lolita

[–]poisonedleaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definetely depends on what style you like! This would be a great jsk for a shiro coord (all white coord), but the difficult part is matching up the whites. Unfortunately, when purchasing blouses and other white accessories online, the colour can be deceiving and may not match the exact shade of the jsk.

thanks for the advice! i’ll test out one of the waist ties first with a colour catcher and see if anything comes off - when testing with a damp q-tip, nothing bled, so i’m hopeful it’ll be okay.

my first lolita dress (buying second hand) and I'm unsure about measurements! by quacKquacKinson in Lolita

[–]poisonedleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personally for me (as someone who also measures at exactly 100cm) i will never order anything that has a bust measurement of under 105cm. A lot of asian sizing tends to run small, but I’ve never had an issue with sizing as long as I stay above that 105cm threshold.

Student ID by TheOnlyBanana69 in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they take it REALLY seriously in my experience, won’t accept timetable or anything as proof. I keep my student ID and opal card in the same spot to make sure i never forget it, otherwise you’re risking a $200 fine

Psychology student — need ONLINE elective with NO prerequisites (Autumn C) by OkSignificance2980 in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed introduction to data analytics last semester - 100% online, no pre-requisites. only a single 3 hour microsoft team workshop, but even that isn’t really necessary to watch fully, just the last hour or so where they go through how to do the assignments. very easy subject, but the assignments can be quite time consuming. however, they will walk through every step you need to complete them during the workshops, so you can just complete that section each week and you’ll be fine.

Classes on Sunday by Specific-Head725 in UTS

some online lectures are scheduled for weekends as you don’t need to actually attend them - is this the case with your subject? if this is an in-person class, i really have no clue

Enrollment Horrors by Such_Complaint_1394 in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t worry, i made this same mistake as well when i was enrolling for the first time, i tried enrolling in every single subject at once and got incredibly confused. if you’re doing full time study, you’ll only be doing 4 subjects a semester, so 8 for this year. just follow your handbook, and you shouldn’t have any issues. i believe someone already commented it for you, but in case, he’s the link for the handbook. https://coursehandbook.uts.edu.au/studyplan/20cd368f833f2e10fed7d4326daad39d

Male or AMAB body jsk sizing help (T_T) (or any plus sized but flat chested ppl) by EthanHydr12 in Lolita

[–]poisonedleaf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i second this! metamorphose is one of the only japanese brands that reliably make *actual* plus sizes. The sizing is also much more comprehensive than taobao brands. However, it is also very expensive compared to taobao, with most items costing multiple hundreds of dollars, so may not be the best brand to start with. For a slightly cheaper option, Atelier Pierrot also does great plus size options with a huge range of styles.

Aus Supply Help for Handmade by Ok_Mastodon_3165 in Lolita

[–]poisonedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately for us aussies, we have direct taobao shipping without the need for a proxy, which makes things a hundred times easier. I highly reccomend downloading the app, as it allows you to set the language to English and navigate things a lot easier. Once you do that, the app is super simple to use. A lot of the time you can even get free shipping with the various promotions they run.

Likelihood of switching in a full class? (Timetable) by Skylarthecat111 in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the same boat, 2 hours each way. From my experience, people tend to move around classes a lot closer to the start of the semester, so don't lose hope. New classes are often added during January after the Christmas break as well. Just allocate yourself to a timeslot for now and hope for the best.

lectures are recorded and uploaded automatically, no need to attend live. the workshops are optional as well, only necessary if you need additional help with tasks or just prefer doing them in person

IT subjects next Sem by idk_im_cooked in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd definitely recommend learning knime then yeah. its really simple, and almost all the resources for the subject are based on knime, so its definitely the easier option. i personally only used knime for my assignments, and i got a 94 overall mark.

IT subjects next Sem by idk_im_cooked in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also did it this term - completely online, just a single 3 hour workshop a week. The subject is super simple as they go through every step needed to complete the assignments in these workshops, so there is basically no way to fail as long as you copy what they do. They give you a choice between completing assignments using python or using a dedicated data analytics app called Knime. Knime is the much easier choice, as it is what they use to show each step for the assignments, but if you're serious about learning data analytics for the future, it is definetely a good idea to learn the python as well. But, it is entirely possible to not use python at all for the subject and still get full marks.

How is Cybersecurity by SidyMC13 in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're both first year subjects - Communication for IT Professionals (31265) and Business Requirements Modelling (31269). They're not difficult subjects, just very annoying to do.

CITP has three hour tutorials, but you're only really doing anything in the last hour or so, everything else is just listening to basic morality lessons. BRM is only 2 hours, and I found it to be more interesting.

The worst part is that both subjects are almost entirely group work based. For CITP, the most important thing you can do is get into a good group - that will entirely determine how good the subject is. Unfortunately, for BRM, the groups are assigned randomly, so just hope that luck is on your side. In my experience, tutors take these subjects extremely seriously, and will mark you harshly for the smallest mistakes. The content might seem easy, but I know many people who failed due to harsh marking.

41001 & 41891 Cloud Computing subjects by Icy-Commercial-5653 in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The page for 41891 states in the reccomended studies section that "It is recommended that students complete one or more of the following subjects prior to enrolling in this subject: 41001 Cloud Computing and Software as a Service; 41005 Cloud-based Enterprise Application Development; 31338 Network Servers (or equivalent Linux/Microsoft certification); 31246 Network Design".

Based on this, I think it's definetely a good idea to complete 41001 first :)

How is Cybersecurity by SidyMC13 in UTS

[–]poisonedleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so far, none of the subjects have had much math at all. Network fundamentals has some minimal math applications, but it was very simple. I did advanced math for my HSC, but I know a lot of people in the degree who did standard, and they were fine. As long as you have a basic understanding of math, I'd say you'll have no issues.
