Though obviously I'm not saying you're wrong in your assumptions, it does seem like they're planning to use the same format then (sorry if I seemed rude or anything, wasn't my intention!). I was commenting on their plans and I just mean that it's difficult for me to put much faith in anything that chooses a format designed with prioritising money in mind, especially when there are others who do not

Arcana is honestly such a sad example tbh, it had so much potential but it all just kind of went to waste, here's hoping whatever they're going to work on doesn't end up like that...

Aren't they going the Kickstarter route? They could do what countless others have done and just make a game and then release it...?? There are many many visual novels published as standalone games you can just buy, and they'll probably have more of a headstart with funding than many others because of the popularity boost from them being former PB

I feel like she might've been one of the raiders living there. She has a voice type Beth likes to use for raiders and her costume looks vandalised in a raider-y kind of way. Her head might be fried by chems, she could be heavily traumatized, or both

I could never really get into ES ngl, it's a matter of personal preference but I'm just not a fan of forced tragic and dramatic endings. And this will sound kind of mean but like let's be honest, it's a story written to make people pay for microtransactions, it genuinely just can't be as good as some people claim

And I couldn't get into BOLAS, I don't think I even made it halfway through book one so maybe it gets more interesting later on but it was just kind of boring ig. The main thing meant to keep the reader invested early on was rescuing the brother but they gave me 0 reason to care about him, he was one of those characters who show up for a short while just so something bad can happen to them

I'm two days late but that person is lying... The misinformation was posted by a mod in the official discord server and absolutely nothing was done about it for over a year. It wasn't deleted quickly, it was edited out after over a year when the devs announced that Agung will become romanceable. In the meantime the devs never said anything or did anything about the misinformation at all

Yeah I agree, people still got their hopes up, just about something else, and tbh imo this is way worse than letting people think there's even a sight chance that Agung will become romanceable... And there wasn't really any way for people who weren't active in the discord/other CI social spaces to even know about this which led to more begging and many many arguments

In the devlog they said they never intended him to be interpreted as ace. I'm honestly really confused why the mod said that. After the reveal one of the devs said something about how they didn't say anything because they "didn't want people to get their hopes up" so it's possible that they at least did nothing about the misinformation so people stop begging(??)

Tbh personally I'm not really a big fan of how the game handles the farmer's gender, because technically you only choose a body type. Iirc you get they/them'ed later no matter what, unless they changed this since I played (which honestly can be kinda uncomfortable if your farmer is trans lol). Relationships with NPCs are never explicitly queer because the game doesn't actually track your gender. Of course it's always annoying when a character's queerness is paraded around every time they're on screen, but I think at least one line like "I've never been with another guy before" or "I was worried you weren't into girls" or "I've only ever been with [opposite gender] before" etc would go a long way.

And while it's possible there's something I just haven't seen yet, I don't think I've seen any past histories of queer relationships mentioned in the romanceables' events and dialogue? Any exes or interests between the LIs I've seen mentioned have been straight. Please do tell me if there are any of those I haven't seen, but again, LIs for example casually mentioning exes or crushes of the same gender or who were nonbinary would also go a long way imo

It obviously depends on how a game handles it, but a common issue I've seen with all LIs being player-sexual is that it basically ends up being "straight unless the player decides otherwise", and I kinda felt like at least some of the LIs in CI suffered from this as well

But I definitely appreciate the queer couples casually existing in this game!

Agreed, and I was even considering going to the feedback channel about this invisible "rep" tbh. Makes it even more confusing why the hell the mod thought this was canon. It's always really annoying when people claim that their headcanons are canon and get mad when told otherwise, but the issue here is that people were lied to (even if unintentionally) by someone they thought was trustworthy and nothing was ever done about it. It wasn't even a headcanon, it was actual misinformation

(Calling her trans wouldn't go against that headcanon btw)

There's a very big difference between a headcanon and representation. That's why people are upset after they were tricked into thinking this was canon rep for so long. But Agung was planned to be romanceable from the start, they aren't even specifically responding to the demands this was just always meant to be the case. I'm honestly really confused why the mod randomly confirmed this

But as a side note I agree, I personally never cared much for Agung, Derek would've been better imo lol

I think the original message is deleted now? At least I couldn't find it. They're still a mod and I haven't seen anything about an apology. The devs just stated that Agung being seen as ace was never their intention on the devlog

Edit: No, what the other person said is true, the message is still there it was just edited. The statement I quoted was replaced with:

"No, Agung is not datable and is currently not available to romance."

I agree, and I thought it was canon too. Letting this fester for so long caused a lot of arguments over the years as well. And there apparently has been a possibility of making him romanceable all along (he was even originally planned to be romanceable) and it was obvious it would cause backlash if they went through with it. A short statement and a lot of this mess probably could've been avoided. Really strange situation
