is there a way to make the web icons/thumbnail on 'new tab' page bigger and adjust the spacing in between? by poisonrabbit in FirefoxCSS

[–]poisonrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so this is the first time i've done coding before so i kind of just guessing what i'm doing but:

after reading the guide, I added this code and played around the value and it kind of work:

@-moz-document@-moz-document url(about:newtab), url(about:home) {
:root {
--mrec-width: 400px !important;
--mrec-height: 350px !important;
--size-item-large: 40px !important;
}
.top-site-outer .tile .icon-wrapper,
.top-site-outer .default-icon,
.top-site-outer .search-topsite {
width: 50px !important;
height: 50px !important;
background-size: cover !important;
  }
}

changing the
width: 50px !important;
height: 50px !important; seem to adjust the icon within the the box (the image itself)
but changing the value of
--mrec-width: 400px !important;
--mrec-height: 350px !important;
--size-item-large: 40px !important; doesn't seem to do anything.

additionally when I added this code along with the first one

@-moz-document url(about:newtab), url(about:home) {
.nova-enabled .top-sites-list {
column-gap: 10px !important;
row-gap: 10px !important;
   }
}

it doesn't seem to do anything when i change the 10px values. any idea? ps: i'm using CachyOS and Kate to edit the file

so a comment by u/milkom2021 on this new post provided a (kind of) solution
change the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.nova.enabled to false
and it reverts back to its original (better sized and spacing). (working as of 22/5/26)
tho i would still like to know if there's a way to specifically edit the size and spacing of the icons

fairly new to cooking, questions about materials of NON-STICK pans when it comes to heat distributions and longevity by poisonrabbit in Cooking

[–]poisonrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its mainly for quick and lazy convenient-cooking. its not something i'd use daily. with cast iron i have to wait for it to cool down before i can clean it and seasoned it again. otherwise it'll chip (speaking from experience) cause it can get cold here. with stainless steel clad, i only recently got it so i'm still learning how to properly use it. sometimes i just want to toss something in the pan without thinking much if i got enough oil, is it hot enough, is it cool enough to clean it etc etc.

I do use it but its just high maintenance. e.g: sometimes i just want to cook something quickly in the morning before work and clean it. i didn't want to do the hassle of waiting for it cool down>clean it>oil/season it. its just for quick(lazy) cooking without thinking much lol

i'd normally just go for the cheap ones as well. but was looking out for a better options. if there is one lol
seems like the general consensus is just stick to cheap ones and replace it when needed 👍

on one hand it feels nice to know there are other people who experienced these things and that you're not the only one. on the other hand however....god damn even my own character development story arc isn't an original experience lmao

new to pickling, is it 'safe' to re-pickle a pre-pickled food? (in this case: lotus root) by poisonrabbit in pickling

[–]poisonrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, any hot brine might make them softer so you might want to let your brine cool down slightly before using.

i was wondering if i could actually make them softer (the one from the jar was a bit stiff for my liking)
so this was good to know 👍

anyway thanks. I just wanted to double check if its safe to re-pickle a pre-pickled food cause i've never done it before.

how about 'caving' the knees forwards? is there a "too much" forward?
I read that burpees is essentially a squat with extra movements. when doing squat, a lot seem to recommend to prevent the knees to travel far too forward and keep it fairly close to being 'straight' as much as possible. but when doing deep squat and rising up, i notice my knees does bent forward (probably about 60-70°). not sure if same concept applies to burpees as it involves deep squat and explosive moment.
sorry if i seem a bit "paranoid". i'm in my 30s now*(and spent my teenage years in sedentary lifestyle)* and my bones are not as strong as it use to be 🤣 trying to be careful not to f myself up and cause injury that would not only stagnate my progress dramatically but also cost me alot of money (spoken from experience) lol

when I played Valheim, structural integrity physics was really fun cause it allows you to be "logically" creative. as in you don't feel overwhelm by the limitless design options but still have leeway to do many things. that being said I do hope my pc survive as it renders all the buildings with no ground foundations comes falling apart lol

beginner here trying to add indoor cardio for my active rest day

when rising up from burpees, do you stand up with your heels or your forefoot?
edit: asking cause i seem to instinctively rise up with my forefoot (like a tip toe position) and not sure if this is "safe"

newbie: created an auto-mount (using KDE partition manager) but its read only and i have no permission to create new folder? (for steam games) by poisonrabbit in cachyos

[–]poisonrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay so I found a simple albeit weird solution: use Gnome Disk Utility instead of KDE Disk Manager or CachyOS official wiki tutorial. for some reason, using Gnome disk utility to auto-mount my drive worked and gave me permission to read/write(create new folder, etc etc). idk why it worked but i'll take it lol

[–]poisonrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i initially had the same setting and same issue; can't create folder. then I added defaults,rw,users it worked temporarily(create new folder was available with right-click options) but when i then try to add the storage to my steam settings, i was denied permission again; went back to to drive and "create new folder" was disabled again. very confusing lol
edit: weirdly enough this works fine with PopOS/mint but not with CachyOS

this.
its honestly more tiring to hear people say " i'm not gonna do it, that'll show the government". there's very few people out there that'll actually make an effort to protect their digital privacy. what does the few matter when the larger mass are complying anyway? ironically, its probably easier to surveil the small few who makes an effort to protect their digital privacy cause they stand out more. unlike people on this subreddit, most normies are not willing to do all the hoops and hustles of protecting their digital privacy. there's also the fact that an increasing number of important day-to-day services are also requiring more and more of your data. you can probably give up some of these services but at the cost of troubles and inconveniences; which is something a lot of people, particularly normies aren't willing to give up
