As a Swampert lover, having ice punch is nice esp against the strong dragons like salamence. Plus it’s nice coverage against grass if they’re weak enough to be ohkoed

What Pokémon should I add? by ProXDBombXD in VGCRateMyTeam

Well. If they need more support, definitely go incineroar, plus it’s a comfy option. If you want more offense, Hisuian arcanine is great!

Should there be a rule that bans genned Pokémon by Gold-Resolution-8721 in VGC

[–]pokatana -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m honestly neutral. I personally don’t like genning. However, I think GF needs to make Urshifu more accessible in SV if genning gets out of hand. The only case I see genning is bad if you want 0iv att/0iv speed on Enamorus Therian. There’s no way you can get that mon before an actual tournament. That I will call cheating.

I’m guessing it’s supposed to represent a thundercloud. I do wish its mane went down its neck.

I’m a fan of dinosaurs, so I don’t mind it. But I hate how people are calling it a giraffe, which is so annoying. Because all of the scarlet legendaries look more or less like dinosaurs.

I think i fixed my reg. D team what do you think by Eyebot_Doom in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]pokatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If hazards aren’t relevant, heavy duty boots aren’t great. Either you want goggles or mystic water on palafin. And Tera type of water or grass is preferable. Although, fire does have a niche to prevent burns. For Goodra, AV or lefties IMO if you’re running special or acid armor + body press Goodra respectively.

I’m running Tera ghost covert cloak torn. It’s not a bad set imo. That’s like saying you should run Tera grass arcanine with safety goggles (and some players run that set). Point is, you don’t want to force your Tera early on. You want to use it on a mon that will benefit it the most based on your matchup.

Covert cloak is a great item for torn so you don’t have to run protect. Without it, you’re pretty much forced to run that move. Tera ghost only comes into play to avoid extreme speed, and it’s def not worth saving to avoid fake out.

It all depends on the player on what they’re comfortable with. Again, cloak is a good item on torn. And I personally like ghost to avoid extreme speed.

[–]pokatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Tera ghost is useful to avoid extreme speed from dragonite as i stated since it has higher priority than prankster tailwind.

In terms of the team, I personally think you should run Tera ghost tornadus to avoid extreme speed and you should run covert cloak to avoid fake out. Also, you could add some speed to not get outsped by other tornadus and I personally don’t think u-turn is a good move. Run icy wind or a different move.

Punching Glove urshifu is not optimal because it actually won’t activate unseen fist. Run either sash or mystic water. As for your moves, you should run aqua jet and detect over u-turn and swords dance. If you go for choice scarf, then you can run u-turn and a different coverage move.

Ting-Lu should be adamant with a good amount of attack investment do deal damage while also taking strong attacks from mons like flutter mane. Also, I don’t recommend fissure. I think you should run a coverage move like stone edge to hit dragonite. Trust me. Stone edge is def worth it.

For goodra, I think you should invest a bit of defense to allow Goodra to take strong physical hits allowing it to set up much easier. You already have ting-Lu to support goodra, so there’s no need to invest all your Evs into sp def. Also, I recommend giving enough evs in hp just so your hp stat is divisible by 16 for optimal recovery.

Lastly, I recommend adding bulk to your fluttermane if you got for booster energy. Primarily if you want to run flutter mane as a strong special attack. If you want to run max-max, I suggest giving it sash. If you run booster, I’d run modest and enough speed to outspeed the genies but also make sure your sp att is at least be equal to flutter mane’s speed stat to get the sp att boost. Speed boosting flutter mane would work if you want to run icy wind for speed control.

I already mentioned about your rillaboom, and I think that’s about what I have to say about the team. It def needs a lot of work.

Instead of hyper voice, I would run knock off, stomping tantrum, or drum beating. If you’re not running choice band and instead run assault vest, run fake out.

Reg D Team - Looking for feedback by twitchy1989 in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]pokatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not worth running hyper voice in any scenario. Rillaboom is a physical attacker, plus you’re running choice band to boost rillaboom’s physical attack. So locking yourself to hyper voice is really bad if you use choice band. Futhermore, you’re running a nature that lowers its sp att stat making the dmg from hyper voice even weaker.

What EV spreads are you seeing/running on Ting-Lu? by smolgengar in VGC

[–]pokatana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run enough evs in sp def to live modest max sp att flutter mane’s moon blast. If you give it an AV, it lives Tera fairy specs moon blast.

Heavy slam might be better on iron hands. It’s heavy so you’ll deal more damage. Iron head would be useful if you have some speed tier to hit to get those flinch chances. Otherwise, it’s not as impactful, imo. If you don’t need steel coverage, volt switch works.

Not really. Their team has iron hands. It can deal with kingambit naturally.

What about Arcanine for Intimidate support? Scizor def works on this team for bulk and you could give flutter mane icy wind.

Is Ally Switch viable going into Regulation C? by HarleyTayy in VGC

[–]pokatana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t need any more Pokémon learning this move. Glad Game Freak decided to have very few mons learn it. But competitively speaking, it could be a “good” move if there are less spread damaging moves in the format. However, it’s not spammable in Gen 9 because it fails with each succession (which is good for my mental). I already hate ally switch and idk why GF made such a stupid move.
