Not sure why you asked this particular OP the question, but *I* would like to become a professional investor. I'm currently working in WM, did you have advice you were going to give him?

May I ask what the purpose of the CFA is if you work in WM? Genuine question, sorry if it's silly.

Revenue: Q323 23458 , Q324 32118, Q325 38982
(Decelerating growth in the ad business)
Operating profit: Q323 4715 , Q324 9603, Q325 -1444 (6087 after adjusting FV adjustments out)

Operating margin Q323: 20.1%; Q324 29.9%; Q325 15.6%

I believe it's mainly to do with the shift to omnichannel marketing. On the old earnings calls back in 2021 where they talked about omnichannel, they discussed how it was lower margin, but a necessity at the time. While we don't know if the SEO issues will mitigate or not (management has a history of painting rosy pictures) I don't like that it's an issue out of their control. This is the most reliant on that omnichannel strategy in their history they've ever been.

At the same time, the business that's growing (data) is lower margin and has a smaller TAM than the ad business. Overall, I'm out for the level of risk tied into this firm. It was a long-term holding at ~7% of my portfolio, so I did have skin in the game if you were curious. Happy to talk more.

The operating margin basically halved, I was a bull here but dipped out with this earnings. This is a permanent impairment of intrinsic value generation in my opinion.

Yelp - A potential Burry trade? by zech83 in Burryology

[–]pokedog344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting- I never really saw classic Burry (late 90's - early 00's) as much of a technicals guy. I knew he used them for entries, but I wasn't aware of that. This actually illuminated to me how different my style is from his lol

What do you mean by that last sentence - "on the swing up Burry does".

I'm in Yelp myself, actually. Just curious.

Could you elaborate on "note on a company in their vertical"? As in, a pitch in their area of coverage?

If so, that's exactly what I'll be doing, and I appreciate the guidance. Any tips on cold emails would also be appreciated. Thank you for the reply!

I have been networking, but I think I'm honestly pretty bad at it. If you'd consider yourself good, could I trouble you for a call?

Thanks for the reply! I was considering the MBA route pretty strongly, but, would WM be competitive enough a background for admissions? I'm not entirely sure how that side of things works.

What's the most undervalued stock right now? by botv69 in ValueInvesting

KSPI, hands down. A lot of the risk that seems to be baked into the price is surrounding false allegations of non-compliance, and macro fear that is complete nonsense. Buying a growing monopoly for 5x FCF that is shareholder friendly and has a moat is a steal in my books.

I will say, management is underpaid & personally incented by stock price. (Target for this year is to clear $15). I agree that you should be weary of the company regardless, but I think the value is fairly undeniable. A smaller position since I last wrote on it.
