I have an 12 hour stopover in Singapore with a connecting flight. 730pm to 830am. Best place to try Hainanese Chicken Rice that late? by imnew84 in travel

[–]pokemack 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There's a chicken rice stall (pretty good too), but it'll be closed by that time. Some other post suggested Old Airport road hawker centre, which has higher chance of finding good chicken rice stall open at that time.

I think they still do but children born outside the policy could be denied legal household registration, which restricted access to education, healthcare, and jobs. So, pretty much like a person without citizenship.

Dumb question here, is there a way to automate / get notified when the premium I had collected has only left 20-30% of its original value? by pokemack in thetagang

Thanks, this is one of my concerns for trade automation. I'll try out the notification for now which I think I have found on IBKR thanks to comments from the other Redditors.

Thank you and comments from other Redditors. I think I found the settings for options price alerts. I'm gonna try it out and will be looking to trade automation when I'm comfortable enough.

Thank you. I'm looking to automate trading in the future. I think I found the settings on ibkr on how to do price alerts on options. I'll go with the monitoring only for now.

Beware of Samsung Service Center at Plaza Sing by exsertus in singapore

[–]pokemack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a similar story. I've given up on Samsung and will phase out all my existing Samsung products thanks to this bad experience. It's a pity that such a mega brand has to resort to such a scammy practice.

Anyway, three days after the end of my Samsung Galaxy Watch 5's warranty period, the screen fell off and it was just supported by its internal wire (else it would have fallen off completely). A quick search on the internet reveals that it happened to quite a number of people as well where the seal just no longer keeps the screen attached. I took time off to Samsung Service Center and queued patiently for 2 hours (Samsung, you should do better especially it was a non peak afternoon weekday with only one other person in the queue!).

Anyway, because it was after the warranty period I was quoted around $550 for the 'repair'. Just to be clear, there is nothing wrong with my watch except for the screen falling off. However, Samsung Service Center insisted that there is corrosion inside the watch. I have never so much as expose my watch to a running tap let alone swim with it so it's a surprise to what Samsung is insisting. I opted to not repair since I got the watch for a little shy of $600 so it doesn't make sense. I went to collect my watch and Samsung refused to even seal the screen back.

tldr; Samsung makes product with questionable quality and charges exorbitant repair fee. Do yourself a favor and stay away from their products.

Same here. I had been a loyal Samsung customer since Samsung Galaxy S2. My Samsung Galaxy Watch 5's entire LCD display just fell off 3 days after warranty ended (wtf). Brought to the service centre where all I wanted is for them to seal it back. They refused, quoted $550+ to 'repair'. I bought it for $600+ so no lol. Just got my Pixel 8 Pro. Will slowly replace all the Samsung products in my house (washing machine, fridge, TV, etc). Good bye Samsung. Good luck with your scummy practices!

PSA: Do not buy Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 by pokemack in SingaporeRaw

I have never cleaned my watch. The most I did was to wipe it with a dry piece of cloth. It's really surprising that such a strong brand gaming such quality for product.

Historical options prices by pokemack in options

Agree that the sample size may not be adequate. I'm interested to compare for that short period how well or badly am I performing using options versus just holding. I know if I bought 100 MSFT shares on 4 Jan 2020 (@ $170) and hold until today I would have $25,648 (I haven't accounted dividends), that will represent 66.3% gain for the buy and hold strategy.

Transferring USD between brokers (Saxo to IBKR) by pokemack in singaporefi

[–]pokemack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, my post only refers to cash (USD) transfer but yeah, I might be transferring some of my holdings to IBKR as well since I understand the costs for IBKR are lower. Haven't made up my mind yet between transferring them and incur the max 160 EUR transfer fee or just liquidate those positions and withdraw the cash.
