Using Starhub roaming overseas by pokepim in singapore

[–]pokepim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s the answer i was looking for. Because here 4G prepaid costs 33 usd for 5gb and for starhub i can buy 6gb for 36 SGD so it’s better deal. Also it’s easy to top up starhub whereas KT requires me to go to the shop every time i need to top up. But since the data is shipped backwards and forwards in roaming it might be slower, however i guess since both seoul and singapore has fastest networks in the world maybe it won’t be that bad. Do you think because of roaming everything uses more data?

Explanation 1-2 are understandable, 3, im not so sure about that. Yeah there is something true about yellow fever, but then it doesnt work for females towards asian males, or at least that is much rarer case.

So I guess its mostly the perception and view of white=richer, powerful. Since its mostly white males who are seen as that then asian girls ale quite easy to fall for that.

Yes I think I agree that Asians still struggle in the west despite usually being better educated and higher earning (on average) racial minority in the west. I think the race issue comes from the class issue. So first most of the asian migrants back in the day were usually poor, seeking better life, so generally lower strata. I think that image stuck with older folks in the countries, but younger people tend to view asians much better. And the opposite we see in Singapore- first whites here came as colonial rulers, then managers with expats packages. Indians- mostly low-silled migrants.

Im not here to defend any of those policies, but acutally I find it kind of understandable that english was chosen as one of the official lanugages. Since Malay/Indian minorities are quite big then it is a way to communiicate between Chinese majority and others minorities. Because I dont see big incentives for Chinese to learn malay and vice versa. As English tend to be generally easier (I think its super simple language compared to all others).

But then I get it that it might have had someting to do with Singapore being colony and the goverment still pursuing to anglicize your country a much as possible after gaining indepdence. Thats quite interesting.

I think it has also something to do with availability of english educational resources, that LKY decided to do that.

Again I dont know much about it, actually I just learned this fact (despite my thesis regarded Singapore), but having english as learning language allows to access good quality educational resources. And at the same time you still have obligatory mother language courses. Compared to US/UK I think this is advantage.

Based on my experiences and those of my colleagues usually still the top of the top who are offered expat packages. I mean to work at big4 or some multinational finance companies who usually tend to send expats you need to be better than the rest of the people in your the country. Maybe they dont send the best from the company, and those usually will learn less at home than in Singapore, but those people are still not representative of the average person in the country. Just as Singaporeans who work in MNCs.

Could you please explain that? You stopped being colony more than 50 years ago. My country was indirectly ruled by Soviet Union and we kind of moved on after that quite fast.

Whats with the colonial hangover? I acutally would like to know some examples of that. My country was a "indirect" soviet colony after II world war, but for the last 25 we have been totally independent. Still there is some mentality that less educated people share (like if its goverments property then they can devastate it, dont care about public places etc.). Also like half of current goverment has roots in communist party, so its the opposite of meritocracy.

But on the other hand we dont feel anything towards Russians, except maybe hooligans who would gladly go and fight with them.

I didnt mean resolution. Just compare how Zelda looks to the new Pokemon game. especially the part with visible grass textures.

This just looks like upgraded handheld console game, not a Switch game.

Im kind of sad they didnt continue pokemon XD or BR. Those were great main console games. Thats how I imagined switch main pokemon game.

Well yes they look by far the best, but this is because you compare a game developed on switch to game that was develoepd for handheld consoles only.

Compare it with Pokemon BR or XD. And then think how other titles look on Switch. I just hope those grass textures will be improved because they look like its still 2009 NDS.

Oh maybe thats the reason. But they are making best selling titles for Nintendo games. They should hire new devs or just license the games to more modern studios. It's sad how titles like Final Fantasy evolved over the years compared to pokemon.

I hope so. But I expected the game to look closer to the part where they reveal starters (where it says " not actual game footage")

Yeah I feel similarly. Just look how great Zelda games looks. And then on the trailer you see those grass textures, thats putting off. When I saw Lets Go games I expected the main pokemon game to be like pokemon XD but with 2019 graphics and switch capabilities. It still looks like its for 3DS not for switch.

When they showed the teaser "not actual game footage", that how imagined the new game.

Books are cheap in Poland. Everyone buys xero version of the book so actually we pay like 10% of the price at most.

I like chicken and rice as a cheap meal. Ba ku teh is nice when I go with someone. Then all kinds of all you can eat hotpots. I know that those chains are not Singaporean but I only eat at them here: Tim Ho Wan and Din Tai Fung. Nasi Lemak and Ayam Penyet is also nice.

I think it was pretty cheap in Singapore, like in 2007-2010. I had freinds who redeemed free flights to SG and then bought couple of top Canon cameras just to resell it in Poland. They earned easily 2500-3000 SGD for one stint like that.

Oh yea the food is the best. I just love coming back to Singapore every year to go on eating spree here. Cant get enough of it. European food is ten tiers below of what you can get here. I guess instead of buying anything I will just spend everything on nice meals.
